Just replace the battery.
Hello Austech Wizards...
My alarm at home has stopped working, so I checked it out on the weekend. The Battery has died.
I cant see any AC Connections to it so I assume it is battery that has died (it is old enough)
It is about 20 odd years old and I cant find any identification on it.
This i what it look like inside the box panel
Three Questions :
1. Any idea what system it is?
2. Will battery being dead for a week mean it has lost its settings?
3. Any idea where I will find a programming manual for it?
I really appreciate your assistance and hope someone can help.
Thanks
Jim.

Just replace the battery.
Thanks MTV - Really appreciate you getting back to me, I was going to give that a Go.
Thing that confuses me is I cant see is it cant only be battery powered and cant see where power is coming into it.
Pretty sure it cant just be battery powered there should be power to the unit right?
Could it be if battery is dead the AC doesnt flow through?
The unit died shortly after they installed NBN Box at our house outside.
Jim.
Jim,
Memory settings should not be lost with power failure... replacing the battery should bring it back to life.
There must be a mains adaptor somewhere feeding power to the panel and to keep the battery charged, possibly in the ceiling or elsewhere.
Most panels/keypads will indicate a fault if either mains power or backup battery power fail.
An NBN connection should have no effect on panel operation, other than if monitoring/dialler was used.
The diagram is difficult to read from the angle on the pic... take another pic looking straight on... plus a pic of the board itself and the keypad.
I believe it is a C&K 236i.
AC Power is terminals 1 and 2

Hey Guys!
Update for you and for anyone else.
Bought one of these batteries for $24.00 -
Terminals were a little bigger than system but this comes with two little plugs that make them the right size...
Changed over the battery - alarm went off... disarmed OK... put cover back on.
Power light is flashing slowly which apparently is battery low - so I assume it will charge up from AC power.
All Good - looks like we are back in action.
Side note.... the old battery lasted for 22 years.... NOT BAD eh ?
Thanks Heaps Austech Fellows!
Im Back ;(
So I replaced battery and the system came back to life.
After battery change For about 2 hours the power light flashed and then all was good.... until last night.
The keypad was making a long beeeeeep and no lights and no response from the keys on the keypad.
I disconnected the battery and it is dead again.
It sounds like AC power to it is not on... correct?
If so is there meant to be a transformer plug pack somewhere because I cant see it....
Is it maybe in the roof?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Jim.
Follow the wires on terminals one and two. You will find the plug pack
Thanks... Looks like up for a trip to the roof!
