has, at least, caused a little bit of unity in Parliament. I may not necessarily think that Pauline's argument re banning of the burqa is wrong, but, her stunt.......
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

The entire pantomine following Hansons' entrance into the Senate was a load of bollocks.
George Brandis’ faux-outrage would have been funny if it hadn’t been so pathetic.
Of course, if you wanted to be cynical, you could imagine that the whole stunt was just a beat-up intended to take the heat out of the citizenship debate just as the Nationals Deputy Leader joined the conga line of doubtfuls.
Seems like the parliamentary petals have forgotten what happened only three years ago:
Burka-clad visitors to Parliament House to be made to sit in glass-enclosed galleries
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) said: "Persons with facial coverings entering the galleries of the House of Representatives and Senate will be seated in the enclosed galleries. This will ensure that persons with facial coverings can continue to enter the chamber galleries without needing to be identifiable."
It’s not as if Hansons idea is a radical new one:
IF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES BAN THE BURQA WHY SHOULDN'T WE?
Online newspaper polling late last week showed an overwhelming ‘yes’ to the question: ‘Should the burqa be banned in Australia?'. The yes vote varied somewhere between 60% and 98% depending on the poll. Whatever the reasons, a pretty strong signal has been sent to the Government. So, on what grounds can Australia ban the burqa?
And, apart form those Muslim countries, there are a few others that share similar concerns:
Burqa bans already in place in many countries
Many have claimed that the whole-body garment — which covers the face with mesh so that the eyes are not visible — represents a security risk, while others have defended the rights of Muslims to wear the burqa on human rights grounds.
But Australia is not the first country to grapple with the issue.
The list of nations where the burqa has been banned includes a number of countries with high, or ever majority, Muslim populations.
Hanson has every right, and indeed a duty, to elevate this issue into the public arena.
Her wearing the burqa is no more a stunt than Scott Morrison brandishing a lump of coal in the House of Reps a while back in order to make a point.
I don’t find myself in tune with Cory Bernardi very often, but agree entirely with his definition of the burqa as “the flag of Islamic Fundamentalism”.
The burqa is not a garment mandated by any religion, it is an affront to our secular and egalitarian culture, and any politician who keeps this issue front and centre in the public eye is doing the nation a favour.

I think the real issue here is the crocodile tears from that other pollie. I even saw him look to see if the camera was on him.

Brandis stands up for decency after burqa stunt – but that's exactly what Hanson wanted
Nature abhors a vacuum. On Thursday Hanson wanted what she always wants: to surf the persistent vacancy and hollowness of the contemporary political discussion, and the febrile 24/7 news cycle, with its voracious appetite for sensation, to project herself, nimbly, to centre stage.
Hanson saw a vacuum.
Hanson has more political street-smarts than the rest of the House combined.
While the suits in the Senate are busily giving standing ovations (another stunt) for self-righteous virtue-signaling, Hanson knows what is in the minds of the great unwashed.
good one you Pauline for bringing a real issue to parliament - hopefully the tide will start turning against Mohummad Turncoat and his politically correct BS

On a lighter note:
Greens senator Peter Whish-Wilson ran into Hanson wearing the burqa outside the Senate before Question Time.
Whish-Wilson told BuzzFeed News' political podcast "Is it on?" that he was fooled into shaking her hand:
I was walking to go to Question Time. I see a woman in full Muslim dress and in burqa surrounded by five burley security guards who looked really pissed off. My initial reaction was anger and a bit of frustration, 'why are these guys following a woman in a burqa, who is allowed to be in that dress in parliament house?'. This all happened really quickly. So I either have a go at the security guards, which is not the right thing to do because they were just doing their job, or show some solidarity. I went up to her and said, 'good on you' and put my hand out and it was just an instant thing. I didn't think about it, it was my way of coming to her aid, I suppose as a bloke, seeing five other big burley blokes following her around, I thought, 'she's a protestor'. It looked like she was being harassed... I was definitely in solidarity with someone coming in, in what they're entitled to wear and when you see them being pursued by security guards. It's a bit weird. I am totally weirded out by it.
As the Buzzfeed reporter said on RN this morning...........we had the rather strange situation of Peter Whish-Wilson shaking Hansons' hand for wearing the burqa, to be subsequently followed up by Peter Whish-Wilson congratulating George Brandis for abusing Hanson for wearing the burqa.
You really couldn't make this stuff up.
It makes you wonder, from the reactions here, (and I think that we represent
a wide and varied view of society), that polling always points to a leftist view in the
Community.
Just who are they polling when I see, from views here and my social group, that Pauline
Actually has a hell of a lot of support!!!!
Mud be selective polling to rig the outcome me thinks???

Yep, love her or hate her.
I'd like to think she is at least somewhat honest.
Which is more than i can say about most of them in the game for their own greedy reasons or that of extended family, business's or developments.
I hope she keeps them honest.
She has never shown a very diplomatic way of expressing her views or conveying the views of Australians she talks too in her campaign.
Perhaps because that is EXACTLY how she hear's it from the people in the street.
So i applaud her for passing on their message, without twisting it or changing it.
It would be a very hard game to be in, let alone being a women and worse, a women of her educational and social background.
I'm sure she is the butt of many a joke from the of well healed toffs in the game. She would know that.
So fair play to her.

Good on her, she tells it how it is, those who get easily upset are those who cant handle the truths
Thala Dan (18-08-17)
She has the courage to stand up for her convictions and to risk everything for them. How many of us here can say that we have been jailed for standing up for our principles? How many of us would even want to? I certainly don't.
Having said that, I see Pauline as a little like Donald Trump. A very flawed figure but possibly the best of a very bad bunch.

The way things are going with this elidable Citizen situation in Parliament, Pauline Hanson may be 'One of the Few' dinky di Aussie there !
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Agreed. Pauline Hanson is not overly intelligent, but she is an absolute bulldog who never says die. They knock her down, she gets back and seemingly it doesnt seem to worry her.
I was like that once, but in my case, it just simply wore me down until I had enough. Which is why I admire her. I just wish she was smarter, Australian is crying out for someone like her. Perhaps Cory Bernardi will fill that void, time will tell.
I am one of the silly ones who has been to jail on principle. It was over an unjust police charge by a local cop that really had it in for me. I represented myself and got a $200 fine. I advised I was not paying it, and in due course was arrested with a choice of paying the fine amount and costs, or doing jail time in default. I chose jail on principle.
I had the misfortune to be in Pentridge prison when the Jika Jika riots were on in 1987. I was 19.
Would I do it again ? No The same copper got me on another stupid charge not long after and it was thrown out of court. So maybe it was worth it.......standing up for what you believe in is a young mans game and these days all our young have been indoctrinated by the left all the way from primary school to university.
