Jerry Lewis suffered from chronic back pain he said was caused by the "PRAT Falls" he was noted for during his act.
By the time this was determined to be the cause, it was too late as the damage was done.
I wont say they (Dean Martin) were great comedians but they made you laugh wihout swearing or physical violence that seems to be the stock of many of todays performers.

Agreed! He was always entertaining. I still have fond memories of a record that I had in my teens of a song he did called

I always read these obituaries with a little anger........I wonder why a person gets so much more "air time" than someone else once they have died.

Yes jerry Lewis was talented and apparently a wonderful and kind person.

But so was my mother....she passed on Saturday but her passing will only be mourned by her family and friends.

My Dad was too but wasn't famous and also not everyone knew him like I did! But I hear what you are saying in your time of grief and I feel for you. It's a terrible feeling and I hope over time your grief lessens and you can sit back and reflect on how wonderful a person she was. Savour the memories.

I'm with you there Porkop. I do feel for your loss. Problem is, so often we leave it too late to tell our loved ones how they've influenced our lives. At the end of the day, if I've changed someone's life for the better, then I will be satisfied. Jerry Lewis, gave many people enjoyment and pleasure, so, of course, there will be more public outpouring than that of your mum, that does not belittle or diminish anything that mum did. It just makes it more special, because she devoted her talents to a select few. We all have/had mums, and without them, none of us would be! How special is that?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

The simple answer is that the person was in the Public Arena and known far and wide.
My Mum never moved Mountains or parted the waves but to me her passing was no less special than those who may have done wondrous things throughout their lives but that's as it should be.

With our local paper now only published twice a week, we're now dead, buried and forgotten before the ink hits the paper.

Mum's been gone 20 years now but she is still with us in the photos we have of her about the house.

    Sorry for your loss porkop.

Some are known to the world and others are the world to us, which is why we miss them so much.
