    Default Four wheel drivers

Saw this at the recent 4 x 4 show and thought it a great idea after seeing the sides of my new 4 wheel drives after returning from the bush bashing

I wonder how well it works and if it doesn't scratch the panel through vibration and/or dust, sand, small stones caught between the panel the skin?
I guess they are not made for open corrugated driving, but slow going, down cuttings into river crossings or slow scrub driving

Some people don't care, but i'd be cringing if a new 200 series was getting scratched down the sides doing the Simpson or Telle Track

There are spray on - hi pressure wash off products that work really well.

I've wondered how good that Vinyl Wrap is?
It is very popular on boat hulls and now getting some use with 4WD's

Although, you obviously cant take it on and off easily.
And i'm sure you would see the UV marks in the paint work once removed

For a $100 for a roll, my friends place clear vinyl wrap on their cars when they do their annual trips. It is a light stick on version!
Rhinohide recommend removal every night to inspect any foreign elements and cleaning

It's a great idea, but with it being so easy to install and remove, I wonder how long before it would get stolen?

Hang on... Isn't the idea of a 4wd to go bush bashing and get it dirty? Scratches add to the patina of being a true 4wd.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

When your 4WD is a Modern Landcruiser, that anything from $86,000 to $125,000 worth of vehicle
I guess you could say, if you have that much for a Landcruiser, scratches shouldn't matter.

I cant see this concept catching on myself

If I stuck anything like that on my 4wd I'd be afraid of getting it dirty, it would certainly make my current patina look downright ordinary. (FYI clear coat does not exist on the Bonnet or the top of the guards any more, The roof is going the same way, there are lots of scratches down the sides of the vehicle and even the rear door has a few chunks out of it. Despite that only one small rust spot and the car is 23 years old and only done 270,000 ks.
