    Default Connecting printer via wi-fi

Hope this is the correct forum ...
Here I am with Win 10 in place (now) and a need to re-connect my Canon MG5600 Pixma.
    I can't.
I've got right through to where it's saying 'connecting' but that's a lie. It just tells me to check everything and goes into a sulk.
I've read and re-read the manual, and have decided that I dunno what it means by 'access point'.
I'm the one who connects to the Internet via my next-door neighbour's wi-fi: she's given me her password because she wasn't able to get the connection going either (which she did easily when I first arrived and was on Win 7).
Who will wave a magic wand for me, please ...?
I'll tell thee everything I can: there's little to relate ...

    No-one, it seems
Not to worry; I shall shell out for the Croat to come and fix it for me. Shame no-one could save me the moolah.

I'm not familiar with the particular device however, my printer is connected to a port on my router and appears as another device to all computers connected to the network. Is the printer network connected or does it plug into the USB port on one computer? From the Canon website it appears to be wifi capable, but that may require some setup re- passwords and such to talk to your network. If it just connects to a computer, then you need setup the printer as a shared device in the same way you set up file shares. Sorry that I cannot be more specific.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

I'm afraid it may need to be connected by USB cable first.
Once the initialisation is done the USB can be disconnected and the WiFi will take over.

    Try this,

    Before Starting Wireless Connection Setup
Make sure that the printer is turned on. ...
Press the HOME button (B) on the printer.
Use the or button (C) to display the WLAN.
Press the left Function button (D).
Select Wireless LAN setup, then press the OK button.

In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

    Thank-you, Leigh, Mark !
And now I have an appalling thing to relate. Sighh ...
Turns out that Rachel had, on the night she popped in to hook up the Pixma, brought a mis-written copy of her password.

She had left it with me because she couldn't get things going; and I have been doing my best to connect using the wrong password.
Seems life is full of Vesta situations, eh wot ?
Grateful for your thoughtful input, fellers: embarrassed to have to admit the lack of necessity for it.
I'll tell thee everything I can: there's little to relate ...

No stress, M-R we all have those. I recently related a story where I returned a faulty wireless mouse that would not work. Of course it wouldn't work, I didn't remove the plastic from the battery!
