EGlobal have this at the moment for $A269, with postage of $30.38 insured or $A25 not. Total of $A299.38 ihsured. They promise dispatch in 3 to 5 working days and delivery 3 to 5 working days from dispatch. Maximum delivery time of 14 days from order, though I doubt there is any recourse if they don't meet this. @sail. Makes your purchase at $A281.56 look pretty good, though their now price of $A343.35 pretty awful.

I'm thinking about this as a spare phone and a data one. I'm currently using a Huawei Note 7 as my main phone and a Samsung Note III as a spare data phone. No guarantees of course but this post of oceanbay's on the Note 4 has got me thinking:

3-5 working days delivery from time of dispatch - But that can be as in Gearbest price today, Dispatch: Ships between Sep 19 - Oct 2
My first Xiaomi Note 4 took 6 days to despatch and with normal shipping 11 days to arrive. I reckon the A1 might take a bit longer to despatch from most dealers.

Thank God I only need one phone but will now end up with a HTC M8, the Xiaomi Note 4 and now the A1

In an ironic twist of events, the Mi 5X was demoted to a China-only phone by the time our review unit was shipped. Xiaomi decided to launch an entirely new A-series within the Google One initiative, and the Mi 5X became the Mi A1. The A1 is an identical smartphone, it just runs vanilla Android and will be available worldwide.

    Edit: From the review...
We always start with Geekbench and the Mi 5X processor did great, beaten only by the A72 core inside the Helio X20 chip. Which is in my current Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

@sail. Interesting review. Looks like the Note 4 is probably the better buy if you don't want the dual camera.

Yeah you could be right but I wouldn't mind the camera, 64GB and 4GB RAM of the A1

I cannot knock my Note 4 in any way possible and do put the A1 purchase down (In reality) as another Big Boys toys.

The mind conjures up the thought of someone dropping their phone down the bog hole as they lean over to flush after a P One Double S. Hope their reflexes are quick enough not to flush it.

    [QUOTE=sail;755470]FINALLY

FINALLY YESTERDAY FELT LIKE XMAS. A couple of small eBay parcels, a new laptop and finally the new phone. Pity I felt like shit with a touch of gastro. I still have not booted the new laptop yet.

But the phone is set up with all my apps, photos and messengers. A very easy process with Mi phones.

I took two photos to test the optical zoom.

I am not feeling well and hopefully be able to give more on the morrow.

It meets all expectations and is lighter, thinner, the same width but a tad taller than the Redmi Note 4

Stand bye for fairer weather. Sorry for the brief report.

Still not well but a little on this phone.

It has been on for nearly two days now just mail, Facebook and general browsing at home. It says 80% battery left. Hopefully today new SIM will be inserted and activated. From TPG to Bendigo Bank Telco. (Worth Googling and checking rates)

Biggest negative (For me) is the slipperiness of the black phone. Probably just me!

The two photos below are taken from the same position to show the difference the 1x and 2x optical zoom. (Both have been resized)

    Shame about the camera

Looks like if you want a good or even semi decent camera, its a Samsung, iPhone, Pixel or perhaps the top end Huawei

A bit too early to draw such conclusions off just two pics.

I was going to mention the good Depth of Field but then noticed I had the very old Topfield PVR remote in shot and its worn keys which could be mistaken for bad camera reproduction. I have a similar but much newer Topfield remote and may post a pic of both of them together to show what I mean.

From 80% battery it took 33 minutes to fully charge.
