Lunched in 1998, Intelsat 805 is an old bird, although still functional there is very little fuel to keep it stationery and so it is in an 3° inclined orbit doing a figure 8. it's still useful if your dish antenna is fitted with Auto tracking. The upside is that the transponder space is available for a bargain price. In the old days we use to have receivers with dual axis Auto tracking driving 2 actuators. Drake, Palcom were some of the brands.

I use t use a Seatel dual axis tracking on a 4.2M dish on the old Intelsat 177 and 180 back in the 90's

Did a blindscan yesterday and cannot find any channels. Presumably because it has been moved.

    Default Eutelsat 172E

That last post was in relation to Eutelsat at 172E not 805 @ 169E. Sorry if confused.

As for 169E: 'Horizons 3E' is due to be launched 4Q 2018 into this slot. In the mean time what is to be done with 169 E slot and Intelsat 805 ?

    Cheers

I was wrong about 172E I had to move my dish back as the elevation for this dish had mine just at the edge of a mountain moving it back 10m got me a strong signal.

Funny how things like that go. I also put a 2.4m on 166e and it booms in up here.
