Default Same sex marriage form - bar-code reader wanted

Earlier today i heard a radio announcement which said, in part, that the vote was confidential.

Why then is there a bar-code on the form and explicit instructions not to 'damage' it?

Exactly what does the bar-code say?
If Australia is a democracy why, then, is voting compulsory?

"What has changed between the arrival of the First Fleet and today?"
"Wearing leg irons is now not required."

Probably a random number that when entered in to the system can validate the form is legit and not a duplicate, who knows?

I checked the barcodes on 3 different forms and they are unique plus the code correlates with the voter the form was addressed to and the reply paid envelope that came with it.
So, yes, a database can be checked to see who voted or didn't and which box they ticked (or didn't or whatever means they might have used to submit an informal/invalid vote)
If you're not a conspiracy minded type this security feature could be considered as a method of preventing anyone from simply photocopying a form and the reply paid envelope in order to submit multiple fraudulent votes.
If you are the tinfoil hat brigade type then let your imagination go wild on this one

So, by not voting, you are with the yes campaign. If the law gets changed, you will have NO right to complain. Sorry, but, regardless of the the method or means, if there is a plebiscite to change something, and the result is less than satisfactory, I have no right to complain if I did not make my feelings known at the time.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

My understanding of this complete waste of taxpayer's money is that it is a non-binding indication of whether the Coalition should actually have the plebiscite. Sheesh!

    The 'No' result is binding.
There would then be no further discussion in Parliament ... for now.

    Huh?
I'm not voting either and it doesn't mean I'm with the YES campaign or the NO campaign, It means IDGAF either way.
