Default No show but Signal Strong

My satellite provider (yes I pay) reactivated my subscription after the previous one expired three weeks ago.
I was watching tv, then I changed channels and though the EPG stayed, all went black.

I wrote to the provider, they emailed me that they re-hit it... re-initialized it.. but still no signal.

    I use a vu-duo+ with indovision.
I have a satellite link, when I change to a channel that scans, it shows a GREEN A, so I know I have signal and lock... then a black screen.

I have tried rebooting it, powering it off then on, even booting it with the subscriber card removed, then inserting it.
    nothing.

Is it 100% provider error or do I need to kick my system somehow?

This has been going on for nearly 3 weeks now.
    TIA for any help

    -Gimpel

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on your reader and card?

Sounds like the card has missed the activation.

If you definitely have good signal strength and signal quality, it could possibly be contacts as above, faulty card/decoder.

When they sent the reactivation... was your decoder tuned to that channel at the time?.... If not, it may have just missed the 'hit' when it was sent.

Check/clean the contacts and request another over the air reactivation, making sure your decoder is turned on and tuned to that channel.

I will try, thanks, but the fact that it was working 3 weeks ago.... maybe I don't understand the activation process, I thought it checked hundreds of times per second.

Yes, but have you requested and had sent... the reactivation, since cleaning?

An activation hit to the card is a once-only event and it will be missed if the receiver is not switched on AND tuned to the appropriate channel at the time the re-activation hit was sent.

Oh! That's new information, I didn't know it had to be tuned to a specific channel. I am checking with my provider to ask which channel.
    thank you

Do you still have the Indovision Box ?? I am sure they did a firmware update recently . I don't have indovision any more so I can't check ( I have matrixtv now) but that would explain why it wont activate on a 3rd party box as it may no longer be suitable.

It only needs to be a channel from that encrypted service, not a specific channel, but if it has a 'tuning channel' that would be a good one to leave the box on to receive the activation.

carjackma also raises a very valid point.

A lot of pay providers are now restricting access to only decoders they supply... worth checking up on that.
