Can confirm that you can get ABC on Optus D3,Sd only.
Now I need to set up a DiSEqC switch for SBS on D1.
    But for how long?
Isn't SBS on Foxtel D3, anyone know if its available FTA, like ABC.
    I suppose I could check.
    Appears not from Lyngsat

Nope. Those ABC's are part of Foxtel and have been FTA for a couple of years now. They used to change from encrypted to FTA randomly for years before that. I have a suspicion that ABC make them FTA because they're technically the people's channels and Foxtel can't lock them from us for a ransom. So if you're a Foxtel subscriber and forget to pay your bill, all the ABC's will still work. Just a guess...

One costs US$439 but if you order 5 they cost US$148 each.
Anyone interested with a bulk order?

There is a fairly long thread at satellites co uk, dealing with the Octagon SX88.

It's fairly cheap and apparently works quite well so it might be worth getting.

    Default DVB-S2X is coming

ABC are using the 16APSK modulation standard on DVB-S2 now as many now know. However, it is very likely that DVB-S2X will be introduced too. I don't have any time frame yet but the word is that it will happen. I believe they are only using DVB-S2 because the switch over to S2X has been problematic. So says my crystal ball.

Maybe this HUMAX receiver would record these new transmissions?

    Anyone know?

Looks like it could be imported including freight, for around 250 euros from

Not sure about difference between DVB-S2 and DVB-S2X. Will the Humax or the Octagon SX88 work with DVB-S2X?
It's looking to expensive and unreliable so I'm going to be moving away from sats to internet streaming for all my TV watching.

Yep it's going to cost you for a receiver that can deal with symbol rates over 45000.

Good Question .... ? (but maybe DVB-S2X is not needed for ABC & on Optus D1 at the moment)

We have been trying to receive on a 4.5m dish in the Indian Ocean Territories.. SBS is also going to the new 47.3Ms/s and higher FEC as of the 24 Nov (dual illumination period currently running).. We have found that the ABC signal on 12469 is at a too lower level to lock, SBS on the same dish is received at -39.95dBm.. This may still not be enough to pull the streams down as the threshold for the new boxes (Ericsson RX8200) is too high.. Curius if anyone else is running a commercial rebroadcasting service and has tried to source the input for the DTV rebroadcast from the new SBS/ABC D1 services or off the VAST C1 platform. We are working on both, ABC off VAST decoders okay but the bit rate when taken straight from the decoder in h.264 is too high for the 23Mbit transmitters.. Happy to hear anyones thoughts/experiences in this space

Default UltraPlus X-1000HD+ supports ABC/SBS and Nine Network 16APSK Multi-stream perfectly

If you need an HD receiver which can get ABC , SBS on Optus D1 without any issue then UltraPlus X-1000HD+ is the one
It supports 16APSK multi-stream and sample rate is over 48Ms/s
We are using it in NZ to watch Nine Network on Intlst19 Multi-stream 16APSK since 8 month already (32 Channels) 1m dish is required
