Not here either. Really surprised they lasted this long given they are on VAST.
The ABC services ceased to record on my VuSolo2+ on Tuesday night. Today I did a rescan but no sign of any ABC services. SBS channels are there but not ABC.
I've tried a Google search but cannot find any info. Anyone know what is going on?
Yes, the ABC is still OK on VAST but I prefer to use the Solo tuned to Optus D1 because the skip function is banned on VAST.
TIA

I also liked the ABC on Optus D1 .... sorry to see them not there .....

But I think they are only SD ?

I have been waiting for something to appear regarding Optus D1.
I lost signals about two days ago - and cannot find the ABC signals.
I am going to try and retune the dish to see if I can grab the SBS channels, (because I also thought maybe the dish had slightly moved.)
I thought my neighbours tree had grown a branch overnight and had blocked Optus D1!!!
Don't waste your time - I did just that and spent a useless few hours. I even factory reset the Solo2 and only succeeded in giving myself extra work which achieced nix. ABC is obviously cutting costs by deleting a couple of its programs and having their channels on Optus D1 is part of that.
My initial conclusion was the same as yours - the dish had moved but when another decoder behaved the same it was obviously time for a re-think.
Bottom line it is a real bummer, particularly when those VAST restrictions on skip functions do nothing more than irritate. We just FF through the ads rather than skip so the result is just the same - they are not viewed. And of course the Solo2 will record far more at once than the Humax will. That said, the programming has really gone dowbnhill with the ABC IMHO so there is not much there worth looking at anyway.
Grump over - time to retire.

The ABC service has moved to TP12 and is now DVB-S2. I don't know what the TP frequency is for Tasmania but the VIC transponder frequency is 12466Mhz. As far as I am aware a Solo2 is both DVB-s and S2 compatible. I am not familiar with the configuration of a solo2 so can't help there.

Would be interesting to put a larger dish on Optus D1 as previous times I have found several services running 16apsk like ch7 and Ch10. Also about 6 months ago the ABC were testing a multiple state service package simalur to what ch9 have on Int19.ku using 16apsk
But because Optus power excels are a iot weaker then Int19 you need a larger dish.
these previous FTA services were for retransmission sites so these have probely switched over to VAST.
With the ABC in cost cutting mode the large $$ required to lease multiple transponders out weights the cost of re engineering to 16apsk and leasing a couple of transponders.
I might just be speculating here but sounds logical.

hos here (06-10-17)
I wonder has any of this to do with the fact DST started over the weekend and in NSW, Monday was a Public Holiday?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
The other aspect of the D1 service that was handy was that a program recorded from D1 on a conventional satellite receiver was saved in a format that could be edited, and played back on any number of devices.
Record something on VAST, and it can only be played back on the device on which it was recorded.
Bugger!!

I'd suggest a request about why to reception.advice@abc.net.au will probably get a response.

I'm not worried about Tasmania - VAST offers the Tassie news.
Previously I was tuned to ABC Vic which was
tp13 12595H
14294-7/8
So, pardon my ignorance, what settings should now be used? And DVB-S2 is not a problem. However I'm not clear about what to set from your posting above.
TIA for help

A blind scan of D1 today only delivered pics for SBS.
The ABC recently changed its satellite distribution arrangements with Optus. This distribution arrangement is specifically for the ABC to ensure that the network of television transmission towers that Broadcast Australia operates on its behalf have an appropriate content input for transmission at each site. This distribution signal can change at any time without notice.
For those viewers who are unable to access television from the network of transmission towers that are operated for the ABC by Broadcast Australia, the ABC has established a direct-to-home satellite television services, called the Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST) Service.
However, the ABC understands that some local communities have made their own arrangements to retransmit the ABC’s television services. The ABC is not aware of the input arrangements for these self-help transmission facilities, as these are the responsibility of the self-help licensee and their own service providers. The ABC understands that the VAST service is used for the input at many sites for the ABC’s services or the services of the commercial broadcasters.
If self-help licensees want to convert their inputs to use the VAST service, the ABC understands that broadcast quality VAST receivers are available that would be suitable for use in obtaining an ABC signal for retransmission. Please contact vastcams@optus.com.au for information on VAST channel tuning information, or to obtain conditional access modules to facilitate retransmission.
Please be aware that it is the responsibility of the self-help licensee to continue to hold all appropriate licences and permissions to retransmit the ABC’s services. See for more information. However, if self-help licensees would prefer to access the ABC’s satellite distribution service to provide the input for their retransmission, below are the details of the ABC’s new distribution service, as at 3 October 2017:
There are a number of receivers that can be used to decode the ABC’s DTV services on the OPTUS satellite. Two such receivers the ABC are aware would be suitable include:
• Ericsson RX8200.
• Evertz 7882IRD.
These receivers will have to be purchased with the merged capability licences and handle the satellite parameters below:
• Downlink frequency = 12469MHz
• Symbol Rate = 47.3MSym/s
• Modulation = DVB-S2
• Modulation format = 16APSK
• Roll Off = 20%
To tune to the correct states service, the Input Stream ID(ISI) value need to be set in the receiver. These values are:
• 121= NSW
• 122= SA
• 123= NT
• 124= WA
• 125= VIC
• 126= QLD

Looks like we may need a new Satellite Receiver STB ?
Are they still FTA if we get a STB capable of scanning them in ?
Think I will wait & see if a suitable non-professional STB Receiver get's some good reviews saying they can Scan in The ABC's on Optus D1 Ok ?
(unless someone can suggest some way or settings to Scan in the ABC's using our STB's we have now .... of course ...)

Just be aware if you are trying to receive the ABC service on D1 you will deffinenty need a bigger dish then a 85cm to resolve it. Probely a 1.5mt as minimum.
Further to the above Ch7 are also on Optus D1 in a multi ch format on 12638v 15000 16apsk 4/5
OSIRUS (07-10-17)
OK, I've already got a 1.2m large dish. So, am I to understand the ABC is still available on D1 using it? If so please tell me how. I'm too dim to fully comprehend the earlier posts to work out what I need to do.
TIA
