If you only have it connected to a dish, Foxtel have no was of knowing the location.
If you connect it online, it's possible they can see it's not at the registered address.

Thanks for your reply!!
Probably better not to connect outside my address
Carnt see them chasing anyone up a lot of man hrs required
Surely they know this goes on !!
I think it's unlikely it would be noticed, but it is possible.
The other thing is if you use the box outside the terrestrial signal coverage of the registered location, it won't tune terrestrial channels.
Of course, satellite will still work wherever you take it, providing you have a dish pointed at C1/D3.
just another question about the Foxtel IQ3 ....
if you lived in say Sydney who also get the FTA channels by satellite as well on Foxtel....
can you still see the Satellite FTA channels (7, 9,10, 9Go, Eleven, & 7mate) on an IQ3 ..... &/or .... can the FTA Satellite channels be substituted in place of the Terrestrial FTA channels scanned in .... or not ....?
?
If so ..... is there a special procedure to watch the FTA Satellite channels on the IQ3 ..... ?
(of course you need to be in a correct post code area to get the FTA channels by Satellite to start with)

The way to get your local terrestrial (FTA) ch's anywhere in the C1/D3 footprint is with a VAST box.
Cheers
Hos Here
The above is true for the Vast channels ....
However Foxtel broadcast the FTA channels on Satellite (7,9,10,9Go,Eleven, & 7mate) for Sydney Melbourne & Brisbane broadcast areas .... they are also encrypted with Videoguard (from memory)
on a Standard Foxtel Satellite STB channel 100= channel 9, channel 107= channel 7, channel 110= channel 10, channel 139= 9Go, channel 141= Eleven, channel 188= 7mate (in one of these cities)
just wondering how this works on a Foxtel Satellite IQ3 STB ?
(I seem to think I remember someone saying you could choose to have either the Foxtel FTA Satellite channels or the Terrestrial FTA channels ... or a combination of the two ..... on a IQ3 STB ..... but unsure of this ?)
someone who has a Foxtel Satellite IQ3 STB in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, may know .... or a TV Technition in one of these cities
Sorry if I have gotten a bit off topic, the OP's question may only be interested in connecting to the internet for the On Demand content available in Foxtel Store, & the On Demand catch up channels etc .... ?

Can't confirm definitely as I don't have an iQ3... but from what I understand, yes, in the metro areas you get FTA channels via satellite as well as terrestrial.
This is because not all residences have a terrestrial antenna, or their terrestrial reception is poor.
So you could take one of those iQ3 boxes elsewhere and still receive the satellite FTA metro channels.

The FTA terrestrialad Service in an IQ3 are completely independent to satellite.
Yes Foxtel do offer FTA via their Satellite service to some cities but the IQ3 has independent terrestrial and seaellite inputs. Perth do not have satellite option.
Perth terrestrial DTV services will load on the IQ3 just make sure your terrestrial tv Antannas is connected in the appropriate input.
yes but not all channels are available in perth,i.e. channel 72 yes channel 70 the main one no
