Driving a lawnmower around at midnight, might just attract some attention. He deserves what he got! I'd be rather annoyed if my neighbour started his mower up at midnight, too.

I guess riding a mower to a servo for fuel while pissed just doesn't cut it.

Sorry... someone had to say it.

Sad story of a rag and bone man who went to a pub at the end of his day, had few Ales to lubricate the tonsils and when he was suitably refreshed, was placed into the cart, the reins were put up on the seat and the horse started off for home along a well travelled route but this day it all went really bad.
During that day, one of the roads the horse was used to travelling home had been made One Way in the opposite direction but the horse of course not being able to read, plodded on causing no end of constenation for the motorists which caused the Police to be called and our poor old Rag and Bone man was fined for being Drunk in charge of a horse etc........

That story, Gordon, is just downright unfortunate. In theory, the horse would be far safer in control of its own destiny than someone pulling on the reigns. It knows where it wants to go and how to get there without getting into trouble. So, putting a drunk on the cart and saying, "home James", should be far less danger than putting a sober bloke behind the wheel of a car.

Sad but true but going the Wrong Way on a ONE Way street is where the problem lay....................The Horse of Course would by constant use, have stayed on one side of that road but now confronting head on traffic was beyond the capability of our erstwhile equine friend and had it reacted badly to the situation, I could see a not unsimiliar degree of carnage resulting from your scenario.
