    Default HWS issue.

We have an aquamax 390 gas storage hws service that has never given us an issue over the 10 years since fitted, on saturday we had no hot water so i checked to make sure the pilot light was on. Couldnt really see it so went thru the process of relighting it to be sure, it lit and i could see the burner light when the hot tap was turned on although it did splutter a bit as if there was air in the lines and a tiny amount of orange flame. Seemed ok yesterday arvo and for my shower this morning but boss informs me that we have luke warm water again. I'm expecting something like a thermocouple, pilot light unit or the burner ?

If you have a tempering valve fitted, when they start to play up they will usually only let more cold water through so you don’t get scalded.

Are you on mains or bottled gas? You could be low on gas?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

on mains, i suspected the pilot light wasnt staying lit but it was fine last night and this morning. Possibly a temporary issue with gas supply as i cant replicate it.

If you have a continuous burning Pilot light, I wonder has the thermo couple unit that turns the Gas OFF if the flame goes out has sort of carboned up and if the air temp was low, it lost heat and thought the flame had gone out?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

It reared its head again and pilot light doesnt stay on, reading above i think i should clean the T/C and see if it makes any difference. The pilot isnt very strong and noticed the burner was spluttering a bit but no orange flames.

We had issues with a heater's pilot light, turned out to be corrosion building up in the end of the pilot nozzle - called a plumber who cleaned this out, all good since.
Apparently if there's a moisture/water build up in the pipes this gets worse....
