This is going to be a big problem in the future world wide. I despise those who cannot except their own history. Your history is your history and it all should be remembered for what it is.

We are starting to get complaints in Australia that we dont have aboriginal statues and they want various white ones pulled down, including those of Melbourne founder John Batman.

Of course aboriginals don't have their own statues as they didnt know how to build them. In 80,000 years their creations are - the bent stick (boomerang), the straight stick (spear) and the hollow stick (didgeridoo).

Of course if we were to have a statue of an Aboriginal who would it be ? I see the loony lefts only proposal is . Below is a description from the time about his treatment of his wife Barangaroo :

Bennelong would strike Barangaroo with blows and kicks and "every other mark of brutality".

Oh dear, thats not going to help their campaign......though it will probably be ignored.

    I'll be chuckling for a while . . . .

Well........I am only being truthful on that one. They lived very basic lives and the only skills they had were hunting and fighting.

The only difference from then to now is they don't hunt.

Yes they do... it's only what they hunt that has changed.

They hunt every possible handout, grant and opportunity to get something for nothing.

Now now, that's not very nice even if it is true

Its a bit more complicated that that........we give them land and they sell the mining rights for huge sums which they promptly misappropriate.

Similar subject in another thread somewhere where I mentioned that in the country town of Bathurst there was an attempt by do gooders to pull down a statue of the explorer John Evans.

Simply because there was a depiction of an aboriginal guide kneeling on the ground looking outwards at Evans feet.

This was deemed racially offensive to a small group of aboriginal activists in the Central West.

They might've been smarter than we think.
ABORIGINAL PEOPLE FORMED one of the most technologically advanced societies in the world when they first arrived in Australia. The way they adapted to our country's challenging conditions is a testament to Aussie inventiveness.

Exactly...it's only the self flagellating guilt trip brigade that believe otherwise...

Natural substances fashioned to their advantage....something ALL humans have always done....it's why we plague the planet.

Give up your property to them then. If thats your attitude, then clearly its the right thing to do.

Personally I think they are very very well catered for considering the majority of Aboriginals in this country are minority Aboriginal and majority white.

I am 16% Scandinavian by DNA, but I don't get around with a Viking helmet on trying to get in on any Nordic land claims. Laughably, Australia is the only country in the world that doesnt require any proof of being indigenous.

In 1976 the Parliament of Australia passed the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (ALRA). Since then approximately
50 percent of the land in the NT has become Aboriginal land in addition to 85 percent of the coastline. A large proportion of the remaining land mass is subject to Native Title interests.

Cool. I presume that as they own it, they will defend it. Then the rest of us can pay to defend whats left....sounds like a good deal.

Well, here's a bad deal then.

More than 20 percent of Australia is owned by Indigenous peoples under native title and statutory land rights schemes

Thats right, these poor people own 1/5th of Australia now.

Let's see. I haven't done a family tree, but certainly have some English and Irish ancestry. So can I lay claim to half of England because of the Angles, Saxons and Jutes? Or those bloody invading Normans? Or what about those bloody English and their subjugation and division of Ireland? Surely I must be entitled to a free ride somewhere?

Like any place in history, places were invaded and the invaders took control of the country. Guess what? We invaded, we won, we are now Indigenous Australians because we were born here. Get over it!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
