    Thumbs up Unusal find

My son and I went on an expedition today, armed with our metal detectors, we headed off to a place in Tassi called "West Takone" we drove many different off-road tracks.
We finally came to a track that had me interested but only accessible by foot, so off we trekked, a couple hundred meters in we came across some old foundation, and a water tank, and this rather unusual tree, something that I had never seen anywhere. we didnt bother detecting or digging around this area as the grounds were untouched, just more interested in the tree and the ruins, and what both could be.
After returning home I decided to hit google up for some answers, the tree is apparently a monkey puzzle tree

And the ruins are I believe to be the old post office according to google . It certainly turned out to be a wonderful day adventure, and I did manage to find a 10 kilo chunk of sheet lead with the metal detector.

Was going to make the comment that Tassie would be a bit far south for a Monkey Tree until i looked at a map and it is in the same latitude as its native Chile, probably explains why it is doing so well

Fortunately it appears to be one of the few 'Imports' that hasnt turned out to be invasive like so many others.

One of the reasons it's not so invasive is that it has a relative that already lives here. The Bunya Pine which is sometimes referred to as an Australian monkey puzzle tree.

I was wondering why "West Takone" sounded so familiar.,, then the penny dropped. That's where the weather radar is!
