Default Panasonic TV Plazma TH-P50VT20A issue, looking for help

    Hello guys,
I have a 7 years old Panasonic TV Plazma TH-P50VT20A that has developed a problem out of the blue.
There are tiny colorful horizontal lines on the RH side of the screen that are kind of flickering and moving from the top to the bottom.
You can see these lines whenever it is set to TV or on any AV (HDMI 1 etc). The picture is just fine, but there are just lines on the RH side of the screen.
It is more noticeable when you switch to AV as the screen becomes black and lines are so visible. I will try attach a picture of the problem below.
I was wondering is anyone come across that problem and if it is possible to fix.
Could it be just a faulty capacitor?
I really like this tv and would like to fix it.
I have some experience in fixing electronics/ soldering etc , but not much knowledge about TVs so would appreciate your help.
    Regards,Vlad

Oh, Nice. You can forget about replacing a cap. What locality are you?

It's going to be either A-board or D-board

Turn the TV on, at the side buttons press F then hold the down arrow or - for Vol down whilst at the same time repeatedly press i(info) button on remote.

This will place it in service menu, don't be tempted to fiddle and change any values.

Now by pressing 1 or 2 the menus cycle, press 1 until you see OPTION, next press 3 several times and at some point MIRROR will be the option, now VOL up or down will cycle through the 3 MIRROR options.

Data = 00 is the default data (Mirror feature is off)
Data = 01 The picture is flipped 180° horizontally.
Data = 02 The picture is flipped 180° vertically

If at 02 that mess flips to the opposite side then that will be the A-board. If it stays the same then I would think D-board

To exit out you can simply turn the TV off and it'll be back to nomal on the restart

Hello TW2005 and thanks for replying.
I am sorry it took me so long to come back, for some reason I did not receive email about your reply so I have been unaware about reply.
I am in Forrestdale 6112 ,Western Australia.
I have just tried what you suggested and at 02 the mess lines still stay in the RH half of the screen , but they change direction of moving so they move from bottom to top while at 02.
I opened the back panel and visual inspected components. I also tried to unplug and reconnect the cables between A and D boards , but it made no difference.
The C 256 capacitor on the power board ( 230V 1000uf) appears to be a bit bulging .
So what is your opinion with these results?
    many thanks,Vlad

Fixed one recently. Unplug all Conn, apply contact clnr & remake cons, esp pcb in centre under big pcb. With 5 fans dust comes in & humidity makes bad contacts so clean dust off inside.

There is the photo at my first post.
I tried to remove clean and connect back all ribbon connectors at the D board ad other ends of these ribbon cables as well with no luck.
I uploaded video, please have a look if it helps. Link:

Pity the video was not of the flip. anyway it would have to be the D board in my opinion. Forget about caps, unlikely and if the cap you refer to is one of those huge ones on the P board, they often have a slight dome new.

    Hi tw2005,
I can take another video while in mode 02 if it helps.
It is basically the same, just lines moving upward.
I can get a D module from Adelaide for about $80 delivered.
Do you believe it is worth to take a risk?
Please let me know if you also would like another video. Thanks a lot

    Update,
I have ordered a D board from Adelaide.
It supposed to be delivered in January 2018.
Will update the thread once it received and tried.
    Thanks

    Hello Guys,
I would like to confirm that the problem was caused by the D board.
I received my parcel today and replaced the D board and it fixed the problem.
Now I am going to get a 250V 1000uf capacitor for the power board and replace it as it appears to be bulging .
I would like to say a big thank you to tw2005 who helped in diagnosing that issue and was spot on.
    I really appreciate that.

How refreshing to receive a resolution. Congrats to all.
PS: I also have one of these gems (working) & definitely not looking forward to its demise, they are pleasant to watch. I also take responsibility for being an environmental vandal (lol).
