Just use OsmAnd fella
Its free and shits on Hema
Been using it for 5 years with no probs
Does anyone else own one of these units?
It would have to be the biggest piece of shit ive ever owned, its been back twice for repairs, the unit has continual crashes, sometimes wont boot at all, the last time I sent it back cost me over $200 as they recon the SD card was faulty so they fitted a new updated card, well surprise surprise the piece of junk is doing the same thing again, and this time i'm not wasting anymore time and money on it, i'll get more enjoyment smashing it to pieces .
Ive been looking at the Mud Map M7 looks like the same mapping systems as VMS, I could buy a HEMA but they are just over the top expensive, anyone else got offers of suggestions? I use the navigator for my gold prospecting adventures.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

Why not an Android tablet or phone with OziExplorer.
The Lenovo Android tablets in 7" are around $97.00 and work very well with OziExplorer. They have been around a while now and you don't read any complaints with them.
I have the Lenovo Tab 4 8 and and a Samsung 7" (wouldn't recommend) and my ZTE S6 phone with OziExplorer
Personally wouldn't touch the Hema unit. The software is *LOUSY*
Far bigger range of maps available for OziExplorer. I use OziExplorer on my desktop and all Android devices. Been using OziExplorer for must be 20 years and never found anything that comes close. What is more lifetime free updates.

Doesn't have any of the pertinent information for prospecting or for venturing into the wilderness. Even with overlay maps available has no information compared to the Australian topographic maps down to 1:25k. What is more, is lacking in basic tools necessary for prospecting or off-roading/hiking. The other major thing is that OziExplorer ties into all hardware platforms and interoperability with all other programs like Google Earth etc.
Would you like to post a Tutorial on OziExplore for an Android Tablet?
A lot of us would be interested, but i think its been too difficult for most in the passed.
I have gone down this path 2 or 3 times, then stopped shortly after Googling as it all seemed to disjointed and strangely compiled
Especially when the maps cost you
Device ID, etc etc... Just too hard.
Why doesn't someone just make a User Friendly program that you can load a few easily available maps too?

Ok... Looks a bit like a Garmin set up with Street and Offroad (250K) maps in one unit
But better as it runs OziExplorer...
You happy with it?
I played with Magic Earth App over the long weekend, was great for a Free Offline, Offroad map.
Even showed the power poles and it was accurate to the meter
Showed tracks and if they had gates on them, which saved a lot of hassle wasting time doubling back etc.
Showed camp areas and camp grounds
You can download every country in the world for free
I notice with OziExplorer
You can use Google Earth at home to zoom down to interesting areas or points you may wish to check out
Then use the "Track Edit" tool to highlight a track in and out while in Satellite mode
Save that new track with a name.
Then upload it to your Map Folder in OziExplorer and it will become a marked trail with a name you choose, perhaps in a special colour even.
Very handy for those tracks that have no name or aren't gazetted in anyway....
Maybe handy for old mine sites Rick?
