    Question UHF CB: Enable ch21 & 22

    G'Day all,
I wish to use medium priced UHF CB's eg $100 Uniden UH049sx for a data project (automated irrigation - very basic data over 40 sites). Can radios like these with lockout on these data channels be re programmed thru the mic socket to access ch21 and 22 ?
Hope thats got you thinking .......... Hugh
PS ... Oops its 22 and 23 isnt it!

    use prm8010 UW. 10 channels.
Cheaper and can prog whatever you want.
These can be picked up very cheap and can do 25 watts if you so wish and have very good receivers.

    Hi Hugh,

The manufacturer of the radio you specified, Uniden, does not have any publicly known ways of re-programming the radio data i.e. channel lockout. You'll find that most newer Uniden models have channels 22 & 23 locked out, to do the job you wish to do either try the older Uniden models such as the UH040/42/044 series or go for another brand altogether.

    Good luck with your quest.
