Default PIONEER SDT50W1 Rear Projection TV Mirror required

    Hi Folks,
i just bought a Pioneeer 50" SDT50W1 Rear projection TV of a friend and it had cobwebs inside hanging down inside causing diffusion of the colours on the screen.

So of course i took the back off to clean inside.

And then "SMASH" went the rear mirror.

What a stupid way of mounting it, off the back removable panel.

So now i am up shit creek and need a replacement mirror and how the hell does one mount it back inside?

it seems that i should have approached the inside by removing the front screen, again couldnt seem to get that off either.

any help appreciated and i will give Pioneer a call tomorrow to see if they actually stock the mirror any more.

    cheers lee

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing

i searched a while ago on stuff re this telly, now i have broken the mirror, google finds me how to clean the cobwebs out.

Take the lower speaker grill cover in front off.Remove screws holding sreen frame on.
slide screens to side to access cavity.Ask a
pro or go slow!!be gentle and observant.
remove webs with rag or feather duster.DO NOT
spray any liquid.Dust RGB lens caps with soft
    cloth.Re-assemble

it took me less time to do that than remove the back panel.

@Hoe, are you suggesting the mirror is available?
or that it comes with the whole telly?
i will have to see what size/shape they are.

i dont think that "any mirror" the right shape will work, i mean getting the local mirror place to cut me one

or maybe i could put it on ebay stating faulty, no picture, everything else ok

    lee,

you can have the telly for $100 + freight, it's not mine. it's in my mates workshop gathering dust. If it was mine i would give it to you in return for programming that 2716 for me.....

if you just want the mirror I can send that to you and bin the rest.

i can take photos if required.......

is that 2716 for an fm900?
do you have the bin file?
i have a few "standard" eproms here already burnt, but they are usually never quite right.
or if you already have one, i could easily copy it for you

i havent done an eprom for a while now but could put it back in service (hope it still works) to do you one anyway.
i have eproms here so if you emailed me the file, that should suffice.

re the mirror, i will do some checking locally. maybe Pioneer have one on "clearance"
and i will see if it is interchangeable with yours. although i am not sure how aust post may treat it in transit.
(maybe insure the mirror for $3000 and when it gets here if its broken, swap it for a 40" plasma.)

    cheers lee

    lee,

what i meant was - if the tv was mine, I would have given it to you in exchange for the 2716 eeprom you programmed for me some time ago (for my tait555).....

If you can work out the side of the mirror, ANY glass joint will be able to supply you with a mirror, or get one in your local crazy clarks,

Mate a mirror is a mirror, is a mirror. There nothing special, as for fixing the thing to the back of the case, liquid nail will do the job nicely, if the original clip's // clamps are broken.
Lean the front top panel again't a wall while your working on the back of the case, as once you take all the screws out, both front and rear sections will flap about.

    just a follow up.
got the mirror from Pioneer, air freight from Japan.
Packaging was about 10kg and a large flat box.
    (cheap at $75)

anyway installed the mirror (its a trapezoid in shape) and i have pictures

After cleaning the dust off the projection tube lenses, adjusting the colour setup and other menu and picture settings i have a really great picture.

interesting was the fact the the picture was really "fuzzy" or out of focus when i saw it at my neighbours place.
and now an amazing difference when adjusting the "sharpness" up from zero

ROFLMAO, you have never had anything to do with these mirrors, have you mate, they're worth alot becuase they're as about as close as you can get to being perfectly flat, just your run of the mill bathroom mirror they aint

yeah lee, dust is the biggest killer in both rear pro's and projectors especially lcd's, dust attracts heat and burns the lcd sheet and polarisers, then you've got to replace the lot!

    Hi adler
i dont have the dimensions of the mirror as its in the TV now.

i would be surprised if you could actually get a mirror supplied and cut for the price of the new one from Pioneer.

Just contact Pioneer France for a price and see how you go.

(maybe a good time to upgrade to a 50" Samsung HD LCD )

    cheers lee
