Default Newbie: Step by Step Dreambox DM500S Setup

Dreambox setup for new dreambox owners!

    Feedback welcome..

    Visit the below link:

If you don't have internet access just FTP the satellites file to /VAR/ETC directory and reboot the dreambox.

For ccam you need to FTP it to /TMP and manually install it from the blue panel menu.

    Have fun.

Toor, thanks for it but I currently have STRONG SRT 4652 and am considering to purchuse Octagon SF518 as originally . . . Well, after your video demonstration, then I will dump my full-patched 192p version in bin and change into that one now !!!

Toor, after when I got a new Dreambox DM500S with your video set-up instruction that you showed me here, says that it will be activate with 11300 LNB being connected, but I just have 10700 LNB with it so if it is possible to have it worked to receive C1 signal without hitches ?

    I think his from Aus?

Yes a 10700 LNB will work with C1 if that is what you are asking but you need to set this up under satellite configuration on the dreambox my video above shows how to configure it to a 11300 LNB

Toor, I have little problem here with my today's newly arrived DM500S unit. Once you mentioned that when firstly obtain the Dreambox and plugged it in as normally. Yet that it has Version 1.9 with extreme limited software like 'Setup tool PLi' instead of 'Blue - Panel' after pressed the blue button on my remote controller. That's something amiss, so how should I find the Gemini 3.60 version that you demonstrated it, which has more extreme setting provided. I want it downloaded to my thing - Where will I find it ?

    I'm confused. lol

I'm guessing you purchased a dreambox from someone and it come pre-installed with Pli image?

You will need to flash it with gemini if you would like to follow my video.

You will also need dreamup.exe and a null modem cable.

    I see. I have a null modem cable ( RS232 ) but where's the 'dreamup.exe' download file ??

Toor, in your DM500S video instruction, two pixs says 'Internet Access Required' definitely means that I have to plug-in an Ethernet cable to connect between the ADSL modem and DM500S receiver with Ethernet socket equipped each others, am I right ? Would it downloads any certain materials involded ? Or a tiresomely null modem cable to PC ??

Internet access is only required to update the satellites.xml file and then to download cccam at the end.

You can skip this bit if you install them manually.

Chanceforlove , I would not recommend you go trying to flash it if you are unsure of what you are doing.

There is a major problem with Gemini software images which is mentioned in another thread and for that reason I would expect that most people would be selling them with a PLI image on them instead. Toor's slide show shows a Gemini image , it is not necessary to flash your box with Gemini for any reason as a PLI image is just as good.

Maybe toor will be nice enough to make a PLI one

In the meantime , if you are having problems setting it up please start your own seperate thread and explain any problems you are having and members can try and help.

Okay, thank you. As I still have other DM500S receiver left with PLI image with Emgina 1.9 version. Unfortunaltely, it has no 'Blue - Panel' therefore it is quite impossible to set-up the accessabile feature that Toor have and demonstrated it. Pity. I think that I am going to give up with it . . .

I guess we have to tell you this a few times.

    1. Enigma 1.9 is the original firmware for DM boxes from DMM themselves.
    2. Enigma has nothing to do with PLi - never has and never will as it is from a 3rd party image maker called PLi not Dream Mulitimedia.

The one good thing about Gemini is the blue panel downloads and the much more sensible menu option layout.

Pli has an absolutely appalling menu system, with a stupid menu step that needs to be downloaded before you can access anything.
    So newbie unfriendly....

But the only game in town at the moment,
Gemini team have behaved foolishly and don't even deserve clone support.
