Default Soniq QPB300B BLU RAY PLAYER can play Region A Blurays no mod

can bitstream hd audio codecs such as dolby true hd, dts hd ma, so excellent for those with receviers that can decode such as the onkyo 605, the player can be made region free for dvd and bluray by entering a code on the remote

    turn on
    open tray
    enter 97350 on remote
followed by region code you need such as 1 (for region 1 dvd and region a bluray)
    hit ok
close tray with disc in drive

and it worked, played region 1 dvds and region a blu ray discs, the process has to be redone each time you power on/off (ie. doesnt remember the setting)

    Available at JB-HIFI under $300

    No, won't play them
nor will it play Bluray burned on dvd-r either

But it's picture quality is okay and nice remote.

If you want wmv, divx, mpeg4, hd-divx playback and bluray burned on dvd-r
playback I tested a new 80GB ps3 worked okay. Stuck with Region B then
Got one for $629 with a game from
    Frankston shop

In any case I'd take a test disk to the store in case it can't read or play divx
on a 50GB disk. At that price I wouldn't leave it to chance.

Probably would work on a PS3 you could get one with a game for $629
then sell the game on ebay. I got a dvd remote for PS3 on ebay for $15 shipped

Trouble is a PS3 makes the formal lounge look a bit like a teen playroom.

A dedicated appliance is easier to use as well...

This is an official firmware update from Soniq support that allows Bluray and AVCHD burnt on DVD-R made from ripboth264 and TsMuxer to play on this player
Need to be 1280x720 or 1920x1080 resolution.

it fails me to understand why someone would want the best picture quality from a recorded medium but only be willing to play it on the cheapest available media player.

If the Soniq can be made region-free, plays divx and works as described it seems good value to me. The Olin player would be the cheapest out there at the moment at $200.....no divx or region-free support yet that Im aware of

I was just reading about the new Nad blu-ray player that retails for $1999, it is actually a re-badged $499 LG
