Help needed with TomTom One with maps and software

Well, this is a bit of a role reversal...usually I'm one of the people helping others with Tomtom, but this time I'm needing some help!

My old man has a Tomtom One (original One unit).

It doesn't have an SD card with maps. He isn't sure which version of TT is on it as it's asking for the SD card when he turns it on.

Since I'm only familiar with the PDA version of TT, I'm hoping someone can help!

What is the latest verison of TT he can put on it? From link it looks like he can put Navcore 7131 (8459) on it and run V7 maps? Is this correct?

What's the process of installing a new Navcore onto these units?

Any help or directions on this would be very much appreciated!

I think that the Tomtom One and Tomtom One XL are the same execpt
for the splash screen files i did put the Tomtom one original on my xl
and had to change the splash screen files that was all you could tri this
