Default [7020] Bad signal on upper freq band

    Hello,

I have a DM 7020Si, Gemini software, CCcam 2.011, HD Samsung 300 Gb, CF of 2 Gb

Since last week I have a strange behavior on my DM 7020Si.

When I was watching a movie from my HD and I switched back to TV it took some 10 secunds before I got some image on my TV.

This time of receiving image on my TV increased more and more, now it was several minutes. The images is comming slowly in blocks and then finaly a receive good image

Ones I have my image on TV, i can zap between the station --> no problems.

No, today I have no image anymore on the higher freq band??? I still have good image on the lower freq.

I tested some channels, like Bloomberg - Bebe TV. There the SNr is > 93%, Ber = 0. (So, disch is correctly mounted )
But when i choose a channel what is using a higher freq it is saying "Service not found"

I checked and did following things:

    1) Changed cable, NOK
    2) Changed LNB, NOK
    3) Loaded latest image again, Gemini --> NOK
    4) Tested the box with my friend, there I noticed that during a new scan it is not finding any services from 11500 Mhz on.
    5) Reloaded fac. settings, NOK

What can be the problem? Tuner defect?

Or i have read something about a Q72 piece, but this was for a DM500. Can this be also valid for the DM 7020.

If so, does anyone has some drawings and what to change (part number).

    Thx in advance,

    Johnny

    Cool Back to basics.

    G'Day Cobber,
    What LNB are you using?

Have you tested the Low/High switching at the LNB?
Have you checked the 14/18 V at the LNB?
It wouldn't surprise me if the fault was there somewhere.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".....

Normal Universal LNB, SMART Titanium 0,2 dB

No, I am at work. Will do this this evening.

What about this Q72 issue with DM500? Is it the same for a 7020 model?

    Greetings, Johnny

    Hello,

    I have tested the 14 and 18V: they are 13,2 and 18,01V

Again, above 11500 Mhz I have no lock, below that freq is OK.

AGC abd SNR for Sky news, bloomberg, bebe tv, ..... f.e. are above 90, ber 0

I did a new scan (On ASTRA 19,2 E) and it only finds 390 stations, this should be more then 1000

Can somebody help me with this problem?

    Thx, Johnny

    G'Day Cobber,
You sure sat me back on my arse then. Sweden, egh?
You haven't mentioned whether you checked the High/Low switching!!!!!
22 Khz tone on/off. I can't remember which way, I'd guess you have none at all.
That now seems the obvious culprit. Check it at STB and LNB.

I would try a new LNB as I don't know you're going to go about checking the 22khz switching from the box.

There is a new LNB on now.

Strange thing as discribed above is that this problem came slowly.

As mentioned, first it took several seconds before a got image, later on several minutes and now nothing anymore.

    My dish is correctly mounted.

Also i tried my box on my friends dish who has all channels, there it only finds the lower freq.

It most something inside the box as on a other dish it has the same problem.

Greetz from a cold Goteborg (-5°C).

Actually I am a Belgium guy working as Expat in Sweden

    Hi Leroy,
Yes, I was well aware as he stated earlier that he had changed the LNB and that he had tried the box on his mates dish.
I think it is only a formality checking the 22 Khz, it just aint there.

    Hi,

Yesterday i did a other test:

Changed the H and L freq in the LNB config to following settings:

    L: 09750
    H: 12750
    T: 12750

Then a new scan and it finds 100 stations more but still no stations above 12000 Mhz.

During scanning I can see the switching between V and H and it finds is stations on the lower freq, so the 14V / 18V switch works.

Then i forced the 22 Khz to "ON", but same.
Then i forced the 22 Khz to "OFF", but same.

So, it is for sure that the 22 Khz is not working.

My LNB is a SMART TSX Titanium

What part is responsible for this 22 Khz signal, so that i can change this? Is it this Q72 item?

If so, does anyone has a data sheet of it?

    Thx, Johnny

No need to change the tuner, capacitors are always the problems.
Problem is probably that the 22kHz-signal is leaking to the main power delivery, causing problems to the step-up-regulator, that's why the you cannot see the upper band. Seen a problem like that on my old DM500.
