Maybe try some of the Euro sites??

You can stream a Dreambox to a Sony PSP and to a Sony PS3, but it takes a lot of mucking around.

Not sure about Symbian as an operating system for VLC???
Even if you do get VLC on Symbian, you may still need a plug-in like ActiveX which may not be available.

I tried viewing Web X Tv from my phone but it shows up as a red screen, does that have something to do with ActiveX?

I used VLC on a PC and did this:

    Code:
    C:\>"%ProgramFiles%\VideoLan\VLC\vlc" http://db_ip:31344 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=div3,vb=256,scale=0.5,acodec=mp3,ab=32,channels=1}:duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=ts,dst=pc_ip:1234}}
to stream to my PDA via my home wireless LAN.

The issue here is with the handset not the dream box as restream will do it perfectly.

To stream to mobile phone, first you will need to port forward 80 to your dreambox and port 8080 (default video stream port in VLC) to your computer.
Then Download and do a full install of VLC player on your computer.

    In VLC Player:
    1. Click Media - Open network stream
    2. Select HTTP and type in 192.168.1.x:31344 (where x is your dreambox IP) then click the little down arrow next to the play button and select stream
    3. click next
    4. Under destination select HTTP then click add
    5. Type in 192.168.1.x (where x is your computer IP) change port number to the one you forwarded earlier
    6. In the transcoding options, click edit selected profile
    7. Select Video tab and change bitrate to 300kb/sec (can be tweaked depending on upload bandwidth) and scale to 0.25
    8. Select Audio tab and change bitrate to 64kb/sec (can also be tweaked) and 1 channel
    9. Click next
    10. Click stream
The video is now restreamining, you can test this on another computer in ur lan or by opening up a stream with your externalipaddress:8080

Next for the client side, you will need coreplayer for symbian, i downloaded this from a torrent site, which can be found by googling.

One you have installed coreplayer, select open stream and type in
    Code:
    http://youripaddress:8080
If you do not have a static ip address, use a dynamic dns service like no-ip.org.

Good luck, hope i haven't missed anything.

edit: forgot to mention, i have this working on my Nokia E71.

Note : port 31344 only works with the Pli software that runs zapstream on the E1 DM box.

Don't own an iPhone, but i think VLC player is available. Any media player with internet streaming will do.

    Dm500, DM5620, DM600 x2, DM7000 x1, DM7020, DM7025, DM800, VU+DUO and a partridge in a pear tree
