What image you using ? All I can suggest is to start again - flash erase and load a new image . If you use latest PLi the satellite.xml is included in the image . Are using using a Disqec switch ? ( can be fun to setup )
Ok, doing a bit of rescanning today of my DM500 (added my CBand dish to it)
and I came across a drama I've had from day one and read others having the same problem.
Problem: 'Sat locks in but wont pick up any channels when scanning' or 'when it scans, it's checking weird freq like 213476589V and getting no-where'
What I found was, if I deleted the frequencies that were within that Sat and re-enter exactly as they were AND THEN REBOOT BOX. Problem solved.
I came across this by mucking around with the satellite.xml file. I edited more to my liking and stuffed it. Cause when I went to scan that Sat, it still had the old config. In the menu of the Sats, it didnt show the adjustments I made. And since the old config doesn't marry up with new one, NO SCAN!!That's why you need to Re-Boot the box, to reload the .xml files.
So I'm in the process now of going through all my scans and seeing which channels aren't there. Deleting that Freq and then re-enter. So far it's working.
Cheers, Saintaholic

It does not matter about the image, a simple restart of enigma rather than a reboot will solve this issue, without having to delete the data in the satellites.xml
From shell simply type
killall enigma
or use the menu button
It is a hobby so mileage varies

it's always been the case that a reboot is required to invoke either a change or a new satellites.xml file.
