Default internal card reader not working with irdeto2?

I am a total newbie here. Been searching around the forum but couldn't find a straight answer. I got my very first dreambox 500s (clone) from ebay and comes with latest Jade PLi 2008 image & Cccam 2.09. I also subscribed with TVBJ which I believe using irdeto2 encryption.
When I put the card into the dreambox internal slot and click 'cardinfo', it say
    'no or unknown card inserted'.
I've tried both side of the card and still no good. Am I missing something here please help.

I don't think that you can use the internal card reader for Irdeto II ,but you can use an external card reader with serial cable connected to the back of your receiver (9 pin port ) & you should be ok. There is plenty of info here . all you need to do is search harder & you will find what you are looking for plus heaps extra.

ON IS8 - it is a viacess card not irdeto if that is the one, and CCcam works perfect with it without any changes to the default /etc/CCcam.cfg file

Oh please! Do me and all the users of this section of Austech a favour and do a search of this forum again please.

    Then tell my original irdeto 2 version;

    4.0
    4.1
    5.0
    5.1
    5.2
    5.3
    5.4
    6.6 (Zeta)

cards they should not be working anymore in a DM card slot on the front panel, naughty cards as some bugger decided you can not work any more... and we bow to his superior knowledge (not)

I am getting tired of this .. 3rd time this week some newbie decides how cards work or do not work, and no apologies for being so brunt! as the laziness of you guys really is beginning to bug me. SEARCH is your friend!

The card said irdeto V2. Also, I've added these info into the CCcam.cfg but still no good. Am I still missing something? Please help.

Have you tried Scam 3.29a, it works my select tv provider IR2 card on Intelsat8, if the card is IR2 and not Viaces as mentioned by Jonc.

I'ved switched to Scam 3.29a. Still no luck it's saying 'No cards inserted or check your softcam configuration'

So do I need to do some configuration in softcam?

Check your config file in var/scam. Make sure it's empty.(if anything's there delete it and save and exit)

    Opps, i forgive you Jonc.

I just telneted scam onto mine and it just worked without any modding.

Just a really stupid question but you have gone into the cam menu and selected it, otherwise if you dont select the cam you want it wont run.
Dont forget to save and restart while your in there....

Blue button, select the cam you want to run, green button to save and restart.

Yes. Done all that... still no luck. I guess my other option is to assume the internal card reader is faulty (only 1 week old) and get a phoenix card reader.

Maybe open it up and check if there is a micro switch inside that may not be picking the card up being inserted.

Card has contacts down and away from you?

    Try a external reader.

Nope, I'm referring to the config file that resides also in var/scam.
Sounds like you've downloaded scam but no config file.

Seems weird though as I'm pretty sure the download has Scam and config combined in one download. Unless he did a manual install.

From the download menu, all I can see is Scam (3.29a). Anyway, I've managed to find the config (Scam-Config_3.25_e1.tar) and manually installed. Clear everything in the config file and restart the cam. Still no luck...

I guess, i bought a broken one from the ebay. Actually I bought two from the same source but the other one even worse. Can't even get a connection. My guess the hardware for the network side is broken. It's keep on blinking the orange light. I think I'll give up on these two and get a working one from respectable fernbay. Thanks everyone... I've learn a lot...
