    Question Netgear "N" WIFI Adapter and the DM800

    Hello Group,
    Thank you for all the excellent advice. My DM800 is working nicely. I would like to know if the Netgear RangeMax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter has been used successfully on the DM800. I require wireless on my DM800 as the location has no Internet cables. I have read the post here and enabled the wireless in the Kernal module. As my USB adapter suggests running a special prog for installation(on a pc) I am at a lost to know how to proceed. I am using the latest Gemini image .10 or .11 Windows XP
    The Lan its on now works fine. Seems this is a newer area of experimentation for me. The wife will be pleased if i can get this working on her plazma(= brownie points!) Thank you all for any help you could provide in my endeavor and Thanks again for this wonderful group! Cheers vk3xz (melbsatwatcher)

    I don't think so....software drivers will most likely be the stumbling block.

    Use something like the netgear ME101 etc...those type of bridge adapters work with anything.

    use a wireless client (WLAN to Ethernet) instead of a USB stick

    e.g. D-Link DAP-1522, DAP-1150 or DAP-1353, DWL-2100AP, Asus WL-320gP (1522 n 1353 are 802.11n compatible.. not sure about the others).

    These devices allow you to connect a short Ethernet cable from the device to the Dreambox and configured to connect to your existing wireless network

    I use to use a 2100AP for my TViX media player and Xbox 360 - both worked fine.

    A USB adapter most likely will need to be Atheros to be detected properly? or possible RALink chipsets may also work.

    I have not used your model, but if it is USB based just plug it in to the back of the 800 and it will/should find it. Then go to menu|setup|system|network and it will show here if the 800 found it;

    Sorry do not know of a gemini wiki but there are more details on the PLi one here and these screens are close enough to be used on both;
