    Default Dream stockists

Dream Multimedia's is currently broken and I had trouble finding a list of stockists elsewhere. If moderators approve I'd like to round up the site sponsors, Australian companies and forum members who currently offer genuine DMM gear.

To kick off I did a quick check around site sponsors past & present (apologies for any errors or omissions).
    • - DM500S & C, DM600 PVR, DM500S motherboards, power supplies & remotes
    • - no DMM products
    • - no DMM products
    • - no DMM products

    Other sat-specialist companies:
    • have beefy 12V 5A power supplies which should be good for DM500, but don't list anything DMM specific.
    • Neither do , , or the .
    • , , and all sell DGStation gear (Mutant and Cube Cafe etc) but not DMM.
    • sell Dreamax receivers but not DMM.

So besides Sattronics there don't seem to be many companies advertising DMM equipment, which is a shame. Perhaps there's a sole distributorship arrangement? Or have legal threats from the pay tv consortium against DMM distributors made the product too hot to handle?

Several Austech members have been advertising DMM receivers and accessories, in the forum and in their signatures.
    • is offering DM500S with pluggable tuners, power supplies, replacement 500S motherboards with pluggable tuners, plus DM7020 receivers and DM7xxx remotes.
    • is offering DM600PVR and DM500S.
    • There are probably others. Please post below!

It's not always clear though what product is genuine vs clone. I encourage shoppers to ask, and to check/use the forum's trader feedback facilities.

I'd prefer this thread focus on original DMM product rather than clones, though no doubt some people are more interested in the latter. Please if you're posting a reply please indicate if your stock is genuine.

After just being told off for links in my signature to the PLi Wikipedia that was considered by the MODs to be a commercial site, I think this thread will be squashed very shortly or I for one will be very disappointed with the MODs double standards.

I reread the site rules before posting and understand the restrictions exist to limit spam. In the past there have been far tighter restrictions - at one point links to any commercial website who wasn't a site sponsor was forbidden. But later that rule was relaxed.

At any rate I'm not selling anything and have no interest in promoting any particular vendor over another. I'm only after contact details of distributors of genuine product - not pricing. And I have no interest in promoting ebay listings, clones or anything illegal. I've tried to be informed and respectful of site policy and sponsors. I've not set out to test the policies or be controversial.

(Regarding PLi wiki, I respect moderator's right to decide such things and though your concern is understandable I'd prefer we discuss it on another thread.)

My point exactly and as the PLi Wikipedia is there to HELP (not sell) all the owners of these fine boxes DM500, DM500+, DM56x0, DM600, DM7000, DM7020, DM7025, DM800 and the DM8000, HELP for the Austech users was the only thing in my mind, not profit.

So my point still stands, if a HELP site can not be linked then these commercial sites can not be either. Or can I add the link back in my signature now to the PLi Wiki?

Why would a link to the PLI Wiki be removed.. It has great information and I often use it..

gw1 - great thread all in one place to point people to - particularly good for site sponsors and premium members to get a plug

jonc - great thread hijack - which might be acceptable because your point on Wiki is right - not commercial - just pointer to lots of answers

my vote is put it back in your sig - I suggest all who feel this way put it in their sig - see if we can change policy - (or end up in z80 banned land)

GW1, your post appears to list those that sell DMM clones, not the original/genuine product. I'm not aware of anyone listed that sells the genuine product.

I do, but I'm not mentioned.

Fantastic, thanks for letting us know Hillsbysa. My sincere apologies for not spotting your earlier.

(If I could update the top post with your information I would, but since the 2008 "reboot" Austech prevents changes to posts more than a day old. The policy I think is to stop disaffected members from deleting their contributions, which is fine, but has unfortunate side effect of preventing non-moderators from correcting or consolidating older posts.)

Before you all break down in tears after hearing jonc's very sad hard done by story , perhaps you should read what he didnt actually tell you. He even feels a need to blames Mods ( as in plural ) when in fact the only disagreement he has had with the matter was with me. As you will also see , he has falsely claimed to you that it was removed as a commerical site. He can take it up with Paul if he likes , I personally have a problem with people that block adverts while posting their own. It has been suggested to him that perhaps he should become a Premium Member which would solve all his problems , but it appears his pockets are even longer than his less than truthfull complaints.

So if you want to continue to block Austech's ads , yes , I would say its only fair that you remove your free adverts. Or become a Premium Member , advertise your site in your signature and you wont see ads in between every third post.

It has been that way before the forum crash and as usual has been the result of a minority ruining things for the majority. When someone gets their nose out of joint for whatever reason , they run around editing all the information out of their posts which results in entire threads making little to no sense whatsoever and ruining things for everyone.

We cannot allow editing to individual people gw unfortunately as the system doesnt allow it otherwise I would allow it for you.

Yes I understand - vBulletin isn't a wiki and I know the admins don't have all the flexibility they'd like. Members' inability to revise old posts is unfortunate but IMO the policy isn't unreasonable in the circumstances. I didn't mean to be critical; my intention was to apologise to Hillsbysa for not being able to give his name prominence as a distributor of genuine boxes, rather than dwindling several posts down while (alleged) clone distributors get top billing.

If there's a major need for posts to be edited we can request moderators make changes for us: the editing restriction is a PITA but not the end of the world.

Everyone, please can we keep this thread on topic and not prolong the hijack?

No problem , I didnt perceive it to be critical it was more an explanantion from me to others that might wonder why it is the case.

    Sanity,

for the $20 premium membership fee, Jonc can get 2 girls to love him long time in Bangkok.

hmm, 2 girls for long time or premium membership to Austech. Tough decision.....

And your signature is a bit over the top as well. How about downsizing it a bit and saving the Mods the effort of doing it for you

I'm sure you'll still get the message across ok.

    SIGNATURE PRICE WAR!!

If anyone knows current DMM $AU RRP that would be a useful reference.

Also does anyone know where we can buy approved LNB earthing kits nowadays?
