Default Why the increased interested in HF CB radio's ?

While looking for a second hand HF CB radio to replace one from a Indian giver I noticed the price of them has gone up for a second hand one on eBay and there hard to find at Porn Brokers. One comment from one place I rang today said they are usually overstocked with CB radio's but now they have none.

So is there any reason for the increased interest in CB radio's ?

    that aint HF B4L.

@ covert, I reckon it's a case of everyone is getting ready to travel over the next 6 mths and hanging onto their gear. You'll prob find after winter/spring more will become available.

I know what the problem is...you have been looking in the wrong place. Try a pawn broker...

    Sorry Leroy,
    You picked the wrong horse.
That is emphatically a HF Transceiver.
For a start, UHF CB does not use SSB.
And I do know a little about Amateur Radio after 50 years at it.
At the moment it's a very attractive price, off in one hour.
    Kindest Regards, " VK-2AVF ".

Dunno about Aussie but there's a resurgence of interest in any form of two-way land mobile coms here. People are sick of paying cellphone fees for simple calls.
CB is making a comeback but amateur radio seems to be going the other way - all the old fellas are dying and there's not enough young people getting in to it. They're all far too busy playing on those damn computer games.

HF conditions are pretty average atm, things are pretty quiet.
UHF troppo has been pretty good in the last couple of months.

Maybe it's another one of those "Intruder's" / "Pirate" or, maybe due to old-timers-disease, simply just forgot what state they live in? (VK4 V's VK2).

    bulbous,
The current status of my Amateur Licence is none of your FUKKIN' business.
You would have a better reputation if you helped others instead of trying to ferret out innocuous information in an attempt to denigrate others.
