dm500 interesting ethernet problem
Here's an interesting one:
As soon as I reboot either my dm500 or my router the ethernet link between my dm500 and the router dissapears for 6 - 7 min.
When I say dissapears I mean no network at all between these 2 devices, no green light on the rotuer, then after 6 or 7 min it just starts working again without problem.
Running PLi Jade2 now, also happened on PLi Jade.
Here's what I have tried:
Rebooting the router and dreambox multiple times.
Changing ports on the router.
Disconnecting cable rebooting dm500 then conencting cable.
Re-flashing the dm500.
Updating firmware on the router.
Has anyone seen something like this before?

You'd better change the capacitor C65 by a 220uF/25V and add a 4,7uF tantale capacitor to the C23 and C25. If it doesn't work just change the ASIX AX88796.
Good luck!
Another thing to try is replacing the router. I've seen quite a few routers have problems maintaining 100mbit as they get older and fall back to 10mbit mode after a while, or become intermittent. In such cases forcing the PC into 10mbit negotiation restores communication, but the DM firmware may not manage that transparently. So it's worth trying a different router when you see dropout problems like that.
The ASIX capacitor issue is fairly well known so that may be the fault. But I'd try a different power supply (plugpack) on the DM500 first in case it's power related, since it's a quick thing to try.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll try the plugpack first, not the greatest solderer here.
