Default Strange Pixelation Problem with DM5620...

....this is a wierd one. On one of my DM5620's, the channel in the 8th & 9th slot is pixelating very badly. The box is running a Gemini image and running Cccam 1.7 ( I think). The thing is, my other DM5620 is identical (except IP etc) but is running fine. If I move the channels around, they work fine, but whatever channel I move into that spot pixelates. Currently I have a couple of 'blank' channels in those slots. I have tried a couple of different images and re-installed from scratch etc to no avail. I am led to believe it is a hardware fault but can't get my head around what it might be. Any ideas anyone.....?

Any 56xx should have the psu fixed in it now due to their age, and a design flaw in the psu, before it blows up completely. There is also a couple of issues with the mainboards which could cause pixelation, but I don't think its related to what your describing.

...and how would one go about fixing the Power Supply? Is it a matter of replacing some caps? Or is it more complicated than that....? Thanks for the reply Cwispy....

....replaced that cap, but now the whole box doesn't seem to powere up. I know there is power coming thru to the box as I have put a multimeter to a few points to see if there is any current. When I put my ear close to the PSU (not too close ;-) ), I can hear a faint click-click-click sound. I'm assuming the PSU has 'blown' a component, but the question is which? Is there a guide as to what caps and/or resistors etc could be in need of replacing? Or, if no help available there, what about a replacement PSU? Anybody know where I can get one from? And for how much etc?

    Thanks All....

Not necessarily true. Its not just an issue with caps on these psu's. I have repaired lots of these, but unfortunately, due to a design fault and people not getting them looked at early enough, I have had to write off a lot of 56xx psu's too. If the psu is not that far gone, I can probably still repair it for you Gypsy. Do you hear it making a ticking sound at all or does the lcd screen come on at all?

...no LCD display at all. Very faint clicking sound that sounds like it's coming from the PSU.Whereabouts are you located Cwispy? I could try and get the PSU over to you. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions with componnt replacement, I am willing to give it a go.

Im in Perth. I wouldnt suggest trying it yourself unless you know what your doing. They are a bit of a poor design and its really easy to destroy the tracks on them. If you want me details to send it over, just send me a pm.
