Have you tried a different USB thumb drive or different USB ports ????
Hi there,
I occasionally encounter a PC restart whenever I insert a USB thumb drive into a front mounted USB port (usually immediately upon insertion).
Anyone have any tips as to why this could be occurring?
It's bloody annoying

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Do you have the latest motherboard drivers installed (specifically the latest USB 2.0 drivers) ?
If you don't, then get them.
If you do, then remove the existing ones and re-install. They may have become corrupted in some way which is causing the machine
to crash and reboot.
I have seen similar issues with a faulty usb port whereby it was shorting out when a usb device was plugged into, as mentioned try another port
