hi been playing around connected the dm600 to my pc network port for xbox using dchp and it is working fine.

    my set up is

my cable is connected to my router asus rx3041
    pc is off the router
dm500 was off my router - which i want to replace with dm600

my pc protection is trend micro

what i cant work out is why the dm500 plugs in no problem and when i use the same config on dm600 and ip it wont connect

the router you quote has a 4 port switch - so PC, 500, 600 and Xbox could all hang off router at the same time

use a different IP on 500 - there is no shortage

can you ping the 600 ?
    can you telnet ?
    can you see webif ?
    can you ftp ?

hi mate my pc has a network card that connects normally to my xbox to watch movies of my pc.

My dm500 is connected to the router, i use the exact settings in config for my dm600 assuming a straight swap, sometimes it connects for a few seconds and thats it i can't ftp it but when i use my xbox port direct from pc ftp works perfect and connects to server box.

is anyone using a dm500 and a dm600 client that has had simular problems

i am replacing my old dm500 client with a dm600 is there something affecting the connection in a file somewhere, changed image to gemini 4.1 as i understand that better than the pli images

can't agree with you there mate

if the connections works from PC directly to XBOX
try it direct to the 600
if it works direct to 600
then the problem is the router or cable

is it a crossover cable ?

if the connection doesnt work to direct to 600 - then it might be the 600

does the xbox connection work thru the router ?

Correct me if i'm wrong , as i can remember , PLi has a built in firewall, maybe it's the PLi 's firewall which cause u all this problems !?

    If i were u , i would do like this :
first make sure that PLi' firewall wall is off or disabled.
    OR
cause u r familiar with gemini , connect dm600 by rs232 cable and flash it with Gemini 4.1 or 4.2
then use ur dm500 's wall adapter and network cable and
connect dm600 with them to ur pc or router , and put ur dm500 settings in ur dm600.
now try and see what's going on .

1 more thing , if u r using DHCP enabled in ur dreambox menu , then u cannot connect dreambox straight to ur pc , u can do it only if u have a DHCP server on ur pc which gives an ip to dreambox.
The same is with router , u have to configure ur router with dhcp enabled if u want to use dhcp in ur dreambox.
