    Default Sky News Active for Enigma2

    After the success in cracking the weeklong EPG a couple of months ago i've had another go...

    I had another day off yesterday and decided to spend it doing some more work on tweaking some international plugins for the dream and fuxtel.

    Attached is the first beta Sky News Active v 0.1 plugin.

    FEATURES:
    * Allows you to watch the Sky News Active Mosaic on Your Enigma2 based dreambox
    * Use Arrows on remote to select the window and the audio automatically changes to match what you have selected
    * Press OK to zoom in on any channel that broadcasts in full screen. This only works on Sky News, Sky Business, and APAC as the other channels don't have full screen versions.

    ISSUES:
    * Will likely ONLY work with dm7025 - i do not have a HD dream to test it on but i would bet that the location and shape of the selection box will be wrong.

    TO DO (HELP!):
    I would appreciate any help with these as they are all beyond me:
    * Customising it for the 800 or 8000 - it SHOULD just need new coordinates and a new graphic for the box.
    * Create an IPKG version that automatically installs - i don't know how sorry.
    * The ability to zoom on the some of the small sub screens - I have no idea where to start.
    * I'd love to intergrate an RSS reader, but again that is a little beyond me.
    * A version for other interactive services such as sports active (problem is the issues everyone has been having with the pids)

    It's written in python. I'm happy to share the source with anyone who is serious about tackling these issues. It's based on code from italian plugins and i am reluctant to public release that source.

    TO INSTALL:
    Download the file from:

    CORRECTED:

    UnRAR the attached files and put in the contents in your enigma2 based dreambox at:

    /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/SkyNewsActive

    YOU MUST CREATE THE DIRECTORY and it is CASE SPECIFIC.

    You should be able to start it from blue panel and/or from plugin menu.

    This software is offered AS IS. No warranty offered or implied!

    LT. But the problem wasn't the image, it was the missing file.

    It *should* work now. You need the extra file: sna.cfg that is in the new archive. Just copy that into the SkyNewsActive folder and it should fire up. I hope!

    Well done P,

    Good to see such progress.

    I'm in the north where Aust@r rather than Fxtl is the option. If I could get Fxtl it might be worth a go but I think Aust@r may not work support two tuners and multiple programme recording (because their anti-sharing probably prevents the two tuners etc).

    I might take a look at your python code just to further my understanding.

    I'm still using LT5.0 because of the epg vs EIT issue. I don't suppose you want to solve that more generally than having to use LT5.0?

    cheers,
    AJM

    Hey AJM, you can't use A* cards in third party boxes. If you could, i'd be pretty sure that this would work actually. Sorry, cant help you with the LT EPG stuff - i saw you'd put it to the LT people directly on their site? I think the feature you want is actually a bug to them

    Frankly i'm not much of coder at all. I've just been seeking out things that have been written for overseas systems (like this and the 7 day EPG stuff) and tinkering with them until they work here. I wouldn't know where to start with writing this stuff from scratch.

    is this suppose to work on the pli image?

    I get the following error when going into plug-ins:

    Some plugins are not available:
    SystemPlugins/SkyNewsActive (No module named
    Videomode.VideoHardware)

    It is dependent on that module. I recently reinstalled my image (latest LT) and had to manually install the videomode plugin from the plugins menu. You might be able to do that on PLI.

    I don't have PLI but most images i've used have a plugins menu. If you can manually install the videomode plugin from there it *should* work.

    have a play with it and let me know.

    7 day EPG has been working pretty flawlessly here. The only problem i discovered after reinstalling LT was that it didn't work until i created a swap file. I assume that the EPG needs a lot of memory. Apart from that it's worked great and makes a huge differences to recording and timeshifting. Now/NExt was driving me crazy.

    For anyone who is using this, i have updated it to take into account the latest transponder changes.

    You will need to change the details in the sna.cfg file so it reads:

    Code:
    LD,25,270,20,175,330,485,20,175,330,485
    HD,133,373,108,375,644,913,108,375,644,913
    DGM=0,1:0:1:426C:11:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG1=0,1:0:1:55F1:16:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG2=1,1:0:1:55F3:16:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG3=2,1:0:1:55F5:16:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG4=3,1:0:1:426C:11:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG5=4,1:0:1:426C:11:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG6=5,1:0:1:426C:11:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG7=6,1:0:1:426C:11:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DG8=7,1:0:1:426C:11:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    DGA=0,1:0:1:BC1:3:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
    This will allow you to select the right channels when pressing OK to select a service.

    cheers,

    p.
