I had this problem with an earlier version.
Re-installing fixed it.
I'm using V3.0.1 now with no problems (fingers crossed having said that).
I'm running Audition 3.0 and it regularly crashes for a reason I know not what.
The box that pops up has the following message:
Microsoft visual C++ runtime library
Runtime error!
R6025 - pure virtual function call
and then the program closes. I can re-open it and start again and everything is cool for a while, but sooner or later when I go to use an effect called "Normalise" it will crash again.
I've Googled the problem and various people have also encountered it. The upshot seems to be poorly written software - surprise surprise. I would have expected better from Adobe however.
Has anyone found a resolve for this or a way to stop it from happening?

the problem maybe system specific
uninstal clean reg of all traces and reinstal may fix it.

This may be entirely unrelated, but at one time I was having a program crash issue and it turned out to be faulty RAM..... just a thought.

Thanks guys, I'm just putting up with it for a while until I build a new editing machine and I'll install a new version on there and see what happens.
You might have nudged me enough to look at a related issue.
Over the last week or so my comp has been randomly locking up - freezing - for no apparent reason. It may have been running for 48 hours or longer, then all of a sudden it would just seize.
I took both sticks of RAM out, and re-inserted them (in different slots) and so far, touch wood - no lock ups.
I originally thought it had solved the Audition issue as well, but no - the leprechauns are still in residence - it just crashed on me - AGAIN!
Another common cause of freezes/crashes/re-boots is a faulty power supply.
You're not trying to run it on Vista are you?
