Windows Live Messenger Inbox - New Mail counter?

Is it just me or someone else who is using the Live Messenger noticed the behaviour:
When you right click on the icon at the taskbar it shows you how many new emails you have in your inbox. I noticed lately that after either reading those new emails or simply deleting them the number of new messages doesn't change unless I shutdown the program and restart it again.
It's not a big issue as everything works, it's just a bit annoying as I usually check with right click if new emails arrived.

Thanks bender, I tried refreshing as a first option. Didn't do anything for me.

I just tried to refresh it again and noticed I have a new email in the inbox which didn't update the counter. It's still shows I have three new messages in my inbox (the same as it was since I started my PC tonight).
