Jards88 thanks for the file, I'll let you know how I go with it. I'm starting all over again with a new SD card so I can have TomTom on one and my Destinator on another.

Re did my setup now using Jards88's TT7.WCE.4.2 file I was able to get TomTom installed on my Destinator. When it starts up and map appears message comes up "writing route instruction". However, I can't get a GPS signal now whereas before even though I couldn't get the map activated I was able to get a signal.
Also I must mention that starting up using TT7Navigator.exe dosn't work for me but TomTom Navigator.exe dose. I selected 'Built in GPS receiver' in signal options.

Try "other NMEA" at 4800 baud for the GPS receiver ,this works for most systems.
If not you have to try the other settings.

Ok I tried "other NMEA" at 4800 "get waiting for valid GPS signal" and the various connection types and no good. I tried all the other selections including TomTom bluetooth GPS receiver, TomTom wired, other bluetooth GPS receiver and still no good.

So now I have TomTom operating with maps but no GPS signal. :-)

Btw the TomTom Navigator.exe file I am using in the TT7.WCE.4.2 folder appears to be the one from 7910CE42.rar and the TomTom Navigator.exe file is 3,309kbs where as the Downunder35m WCE.4.2 TomTom Navigator file is 4,301kbs. So I may try that and see if the key gen will work again for me.

    @Luck_Duck,

It looks like your GPS settings need to be different to what I used. At least from what you describe Garmin is recognising your GPS receiver but can't lock the signal. As Downunder35m suggested other NMEA at 4800 works fine on my Mio C310. Do you have any other working GPS app that can give you your correct baud rate settings? I can confirm that you are correct about the TomTom version, That was the second to last step in the tutorial.

Keep at it you are almost there.

    Cheers, Ian

Thanks Jards88 I finally got it working by using NMEA at 9600 picked up signal almost straight away. Thanks to Downunder35m for the original setup files and tutorial.

Now I would like to be able to install the later TT7.WCE.4.2 which has TomTom Navigator file at 4,301kbs as I get Activation Failed message due to incorrect activation code. I have used the Keygen for the map and have tried in Easytools "RunMeforDCT.bat" pressing 2 then 1 and also pressing 1 then 1 but to no avail. Also used Keygen 2009 v2.0.B and that didn't work either even though it says it has fixed it.
Something is not compatable between the map and the TomTom Navigator files.

Thanks Downunder35m I have tried that also but no luck. All three programs say they have fixed the code with the correct meta.txt and I have even put in manually into one of the programs. I bet it is something small that is stuffing things up.

I tried out the TomTom that I have installed and seems to be ok but time will tell whether it is better than my Destinator. The graphics aren't that hot but as Destinator is not updating maps etc then TomTom is the way to go.

Have you used the Easy Activator with the settings for TT7 or TT8?
You need to use the TT7 settings for your device...

Well I have used the Easy Activator before on TT7 & TT8 but it never activated. Now after reading your advice again I had another look and this time I noticed that if I select TT7 it automatically uses TT8 so I did it manually and YES Success Checked out the signal again using NMEA at 9600 and got signal after about a minute.

Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.

Thank you Downunder35m I just could'nt see the wood for the trees.

    Found this today :
On my Airis T920 with wince 4.2, I always had "Not enough memory" problem with TT 7.450 ot TT 7.910 until I found one day a post of a guy that was saying the problem was gone for him when the memory card had less than 20 Mb available space.
I cannot explain it but Iit simply worked for me too

I use "Huge fake file creator" freeware to create fake files on my SD card and to ensure it always has between 10 en 20Mb available space.

TT 7.910 runs flawlessly for months now
Maybe a bit too late I know ,but mybe it will be useful some day...

There is not much advice that I can offer in that case , but try to disable the power saving settings in Windows - Tomtom does not like them.

That's interesting, I have two 1gb SD cards one running your TT7.450.930WCE which has the TomTom Navigator file size of 4,301kb and the later TT7.910.9185 which is 3,309kb. The TT7.450.930 gives me out of memory message and the TT7.910.9185 works fine. I'm assuming that TT7.910.9185 is the later file as generally the files get bigger not smaller as development goes on.
