When In Doubt - Make It Into A Coffee Table.
That depends on the map you're after ,if it is Australia you can use the latest 835.2420 with no problems.
Look for the download

Many thanks for the update and clear instructions!
Good job!
Oh, and a quick tip..
If you want to retain your favourites and recent destinations, copy the MapSettings.cfg file from your old maps folder (you DID back it up, didn't you?) to the new map folder.

Hi Guys,
Downunder35m, many thanks for your tute, any chance of relinking the keygen, it's the only thing I'm unable to dl
Cheers
Use the instead -works well and a help for PDA users is included.

Hint : you should use the DCT frontend for activating the map and make sure copy the correct meta code into the "meta.txt" inside the folder of the keygen.
Because I think you will use the new 840 map and the codes for that map is not included in the keygen...

Use the easy activator, much simpiler and straight forward i reckon.
Cheers guys,
Appreciate the help, head is spinning - Spent all yesterday trying to get my x51v upgraded from v6, dl bits and pieces from here and there, and frustratingly, as I gave up from the 100th attempt, it just started working
Currently have 7.450(9028) installed with 830_2290 maps and being a glutton for punishment, am thinking of pushing the proverbial at bit more and go to 9196 (not sure if this is correct) and I think I've read somewhere here that 840 maps aren't working with one or the other...?
The link to demonfatal tute certainly cleared up a lot, but still some way away from feeling somewhat informed More than thankful with being part of this forum, everyone is supportive, and I thank you guys for your help so far, the easy tool (apart from the german?) looks very interesting and I'll have a go at that shortly
Cheers
There is not much german left in the Frontend - but as Attitude said : you can use the Easy Activator as well.
The 840.2561 will work on your device

I have tried to install 840_2561 on my PDA three diferent ways with the same result - activation failed
Firstly with running the keygen following the demonfatal tute
Secondly with the easyusetool frontend
& finally with the easy activator
They all sign off as successful with a *.dct file produced, but when I place it map folder on the SD card in my PDA - same neg result. I have activated 830_2290 and that runs fine in the same directory. I have even removed that from my PDA in case there was clash??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
I don't know what you might have done wrong as your posting has not the necessary details.
What error did you get ?
Have you tried different locations for the folder ?
Is the folder name correct ?
What Windows and Tomtom version are you using?
If you expect good help we expect a good question

As posted - Activation failed (that is when I open TT on my PDA and can't get a map to load - otherwise for all intensive purposes, there is no indication that the process hasn't worked when going through the 3 diff methods as I said before)
No, will try that but am confused as to why as prev posted that 830_2290 works and I have placed 840 in the same root dir - will try and post back. Also, I have removed the 830 hoping that might have been the issue
What name does it require? Currently called "Australia_840_2561"
Sorry, I had posted that prior as WM6.1 but here's some more - WM6.1 Classic, CE OS 5.2.20273 (build 20273.1.3.3 LennySh and TT7.450(9028)
Cheers, will be more specific next time - good help isn't expected but it is appreciated, thanks for yr reply
Thanks for cearing thing up for me.
As far as I know with all you said so far it should work just fine.
Not sure though ,if the pndnavigator.bif needs to be removed as there is some info in there about the map currently used ,but it should not matter.
Maybe you need to update to the latest Tomtom version for the new map - I can't try because I don't have a Windows device for testing
The only thing I could think of would be an incorrect activation of the map.
If you use the correct meta code for the new map and Easy Activator it should work fine - however you have to keep in mind that you need the version8 Keygen for the new maps (but I think it will change automatically if the incorrect one is used).

I decided to replace the image on my htc diamond II and at the same time I upgraded to tom tom 7.915(9196) map 840.2561. Thanks again Downunder.
All is working great but for some reason tom tom is ultra slow, mostly a street or two behind the actual location.
Because I loaded a new rom and upgraded tom tom at the same time I'm not sure what the prob is. Is there a setting in tom tom than can be changed to fix it?
No idea in regards to your rom ,but you could try to disable the power saving features and try again with Tomtom.
It is a known problem that the power saving features conflict with Tomtom on some devices.

I thought TT7 PDA could use 830.2290 as the latest Aus map? Can we run 840 maps on our PDA now?
I'm using TT 7.916.9189.
The 840.2561 is the current map all Windows based versions of Tomtom -PDA and PNA!
If the map too slow you might also check the POI's that show up on the map - you should only use the amount that you really need ,best would be to have none shown up on the map.
You can still use them with "navigate to POI".
