XP install problem

I've got an XP install that has gone bad . . BLUE SCREEN . . @ 34minutes remaining.

Error Message: BAD_POOL_CALLER
Tech Info: *** STOP: 0x000000C2, 0X00000007, 0X00000CD4, 0X00340045

I can't cancel the install, and every reboot (even under ALL choices of SAFE MODE) it wants to continue the install!

Bitch is, the machine was fine. All I wanted to do was test a newly burned XP install CD so I could give it to the owner in case a program required the presence of the XP Setup CD!

Now what I want/need to know is, if I remove the Hard drive from the locked up machine and install it as a secondary drive on my test machine can I alter files(ini, boot, sys, bat) to cancel the XP install?

What files do I need to delete or modify so this machine stops wanting to continue a flawed install? (I believe the CD had physical damage before burning which caused the flawed/failed install)

Al I want to do is go back to the XP OS I had before testing this newly burned CD out!

Restore under safe mode does NOT work, nor ANY of the other choices. It ALWAYS wants to continue the XP install to the point of blue screen!

Can't you just re-begin an XP install with a fresh xp disc by hitting "boot from CD" on post, format the drive and clean install.

Cant reformat drive too much stuff to backup/save . . .

I'm also beginning to think that the problem is not with the CD!

Just burned a fresh copy of GENUINE XP SP3 Sata Corp Pro and same error message!

Anyone know what that error message means?

Try pulling out or disconnecting everything but the basics of the computer..ie disconnect printers, scanners, sound card, modem etc (if they are separate)..it may be a driver clash

seems to think so...worth a try at least

check your ram mate - and double check to see if you've got bad secotrs on your hdd

Are you using the same version of XP install CD you first used? Maybe you used a non-sata version and had set your bios to legacy or something like that to cope with not having sata drivers at the time?

If your computer was working ok before you tried the new XP cd you are talking about, I suggest you give UBCD4Win v3.22 bootable cd a try, and once you booted from this cd restore the registry to a previous working state, hopefully that should the trick.
Ultimate Bootable CD it's called, but I think Bartpe does the same thing too.

This is nuts.

I upgraded this dell from XP home to XP PRO, fine. I'm using that same version of XP on a different (actually I've tried two different versions each on two CD's, 4 total) CD and it stops with the Bad_Pool_Caller error!

It will stop at 34 minutes, got to the Blue "Bad_Pool_Caller" screen, do a memory dump restart the install, which always returns to the installation at 39 minutes.

After sitting on the 34 minute marker of the progress bar for 3-4 minutes, a message will display, the above error message, start to do a memory dump,
reboot and start the whole thing over again!!
