Default Uniden 8360 will not boot CE

I have a Uniden 8360. It attempts to boot, comes up with the initial Uniden flash screen then blanks out, returns with Uniden flash screen again before powering down.

Does anybody know of a factory reset button or reset procedure.

Was attempting to upgrade from myway 2006 to Igo8.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    I have a GNS 8365,running iGO8,with R15.1 maps,and it works well.

All I did was name the igo8 folder to "MobileNavigator",and rename the exe file to "MobileNavigator".

Sometimes this can be a little difficult to get working,so I found a simple 3 menu gps program,on this site,as well as many others, that allows you to run a selection of 3 different gps programs.

My Uniden,is a lot happier booting from this,(You may need to do a little searching)

The biggest problem with the Unidens,is no USB Port.

You only have to access to the operaing system via the SD card.

There is a program called "GS Finder",that allows you to access the WinCe operating system, and you may have to have a play around with this,to get yours running again.

I am a "Newbie",when it comes to modifying these things, and I know there are some Very Clever, and Helpful members here, who I am sure will Jump in and help you further.

    Cheers Mate.

I have done as per above instructions, when I power up the unit I get a windows pop up 'MobileNavigator' not a valid Windows CE application.

    hello Laogia,

I have had no luck finding the Mio Redlight you mentioned. Can you point me there please.

I have tried the universal unlock and successfully loaded it but when I try to launch iGO it errors with "not a valid WinCE application".

    Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry, i was mistype my Uniden 8430 Res 480_272 winCE5. I think Igo not hard to load on Uniden, sometimes you copy folder to SD card and the files was corrupt. Try to load only Igo on card then rename Igo folder to MobileNavigtion and Igo.exe to MobileNavigation.exe if successfull, then you can use the universal later. The link for redlight:

Thanks fabes but I have tried that earlier. The uniden then says that iGO is not a WinCE compatible program which we know is not correct.

I tracked what Johnno02 was refering to but Megaduck's fix relates only to a Trax version, not the 8360 I have.

I figure that Johno has had success with a variation of this but I am not game enough to do anything like that yet.

I have however been able to instal a universal unlock. The flash disk files were copied to a SD card and then manipulate them on a PC via CE Total Commander.

If Johnno or someone else can post the how to for this model uniden I would appreciate it.

When you restart devices, importance, did you delete save folder on iGO, and try minimize on sys.txt file.

Did you look config folder on nandflash. It has systems path for Navigating, copy that folder to SD card then go to PC have a look and learn how to unlock path files. the words very sensitive, if you type wrong its not working, like upper case or lower case.
