i have been looking around and done some searching around, but i still can't find the answer im after, i got givin an old "tomtom one new edition" as it's called on the product code card,
    App: 7.903
    OS: 2344
    GPS: v1.21
    Boot: 5.0500
    Map: 'Australia' v650.1114

now anyone know what the latest map is that i can install on this, i don't need any fancy TTS or anything like that, just trying to update older maps..

    Cheer's,
    Matt.

Well ,with this Navcore you can run the 845.2662 with no problems - after patching and activating.
If you need the full featured map we need to find a more suitable Navcore for you.

In any case, I just downloaded that last link you gave for the pre-patched system, and copied it to the device. Looks like it's all working now!

    THANKS
Actually.... today was the first day we actually tried to use the thing, and encountered a couple of issues.

    1. The voices don't work anymore. They appear in the settings, but I can't hear any voice guidance.
    2. When turning the power off, the unit just turns itself back on again!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

You can try a hard reset (hold reset for 30sec.) followed by the TT clear flash tool.
If still no luck you can try using your backup and starting over again or download a higher Navcore with more features if nothing works out.

Thanks, I'll give that a go

I can't believe the new maps are almost as expensive as the device itself!

I updated the device with TomTom Home, then tried using the Easy Updater instead of the 3.1 keygen. Worked like a charm! both the maps and voice are working now.

Thanks for all your help - plenty of karma coming your way

Default Auto Power Off. TT XL

Yeh, so I'm new to satnav hacking, and I screwed my TomTom XL trying to load a new map (flashing red circle), all before I'd read any of these very helpful forums

Anyway, I followed Downunder35m's Newbie guide, and loaded the "Fullbackup GO730", did the easytool thing too. All worked like a charm. (Incidentally, folk like Downunder35m and Hollowman should get a pat on the back. Very useful stuff posted for someone like me, who can't be bothered figuring it out himself.)

The only thing is, the TT won't auto power off when I switch the car off now. I can't see a setting for it, and it's got me stumped. Can anyone shed any light on this?

(My apologies if I missed an already answered question)

This feature is no longer avialable in the newer Navcores.
Tomtom had too much trouble with the active mounts (a slight connection problem will cause the device to turn off at every speed hump).
Also in these days everyone should safe the fuel on red lights ,boom gates and so on by turning off the ignition - therefore Tomtom might think it is a good idea to keep the device on

I contacted them some time ago about that and got no usefull answer - just this pre-fabricated crap that they copy and past into an Email to keep the sustomer quiet

For the MP3 and jukebox : look for the files "mp3d and mplayer" in your "bin" folder.
With these two files you will get MP3 and jukbox support.
    Hi Downunder
I have the same problem no sound with mp3 files every think looks ok, but no sound,in my bin folder mp3player file is missing but i have mp3d there can i just download that file from somewere and drop it into the bin folder.

    Default I'm SO Confused!!

I have tried for 2 days to get my map activated and have followed your post as best as I can. I must admit I have tried so many things that I am now so confused on what I have done and haven't done. Can you please help me? I am so confused. TT Home states that my map is updated but when I turn on the TT, no maps loaded shows.
I have downloaded the programs and can't seem to get my map to activate.
    I have a tt go 300
    bootloader 48600
    Navcore 7.903
    My map is USA.and.Mexico.v8.45.2666
    Can you please help me?

I am planning to update "tom tom one 3rd edition (512MB)", the spec are:
    App: 7.166 (8497/080109)
    OS: 2332
    29 MB RAM
    GPS v1.21
    Boot 5.5001
    Map v705.1485
    Sd card: none

    Having read through all posting,
    Some questions:
    1. It sounds like I can use navcore 8.551(forgot the exact number) with Australia map 840.2562. Should I update the bootloader with this?
    2. After copying all tomtom files (backup) using windows explorer to a local hdd on xp, does restoring simply mean copy the files back to tom tom (or something special need to be done) - sorry if this sounds silly - but I only have one shot at this update (for a friend).
    3. I read somewhere in this site, someone manage to run TTS on this exact tom tom version; Keeping this in mind (RAM limitation), what version of navcore & bootloader would you recommend?

    thanks

    Default tomtom 1 3rd edition + vocaliser = cool!

To answer my own query again (and more importantly to share with others):

YES - if you have an old tomtom v1 with 3rd - you can update it with TT software that run on larger model with more features (e.g. TTS).
    - First backup your unit using winrar
    - I've tried 4 versions (8417, 5440_one, 8562 and 9101). The best one - never crash is 5440_one. You can get it here:

    - Download the vocaliser TTS (do not use loquendo):
    - Australian map 845.2662

Setup instructions: same as earlier posts or you can find it in gps underground or use google/bing/yahoo, etc.

    have fun!
