2 graphs in the 1 chart with Excel 2003

I've tried searching the net but cannot find an answer.

I've got my work sales for the last 2 financial years. I'm wanting to plot 2 graphs for various sales categories with the months of each year next to each other. ie May 07 and May 08 next to each other.

I've tried highlighting the months for one year (july 07 to June 08) and the corresponding sales data and then clicking on the chart wizard. I've then added another series and again highlighted the date and data for the next financial year (using the control key). The resulting charts are not correct. Please help

I just did this in 2007, but the concept should be the same.

Setup test data.
1. Setup a date column with Jan 09 - Dec 10
2. I then setup random data in the column next to it

I then selected both the date and data column for 09 and created a chart.
So far so good.

Next I setup a new column with the Months only eg: JAN, FEB... DEC
Using the "Select Data Source, I changed th "Axis Labels" to the Month only column.

Then I added a new series and only select the data column for the next year.
I changed the series name to 2009, and 2010 to match the years.

The chart looks correct.

I used a line chart.

Thanks for your help. I've managed to find another way of doing what I wanted.
