Default Blu Ray firmware upgrade before use????

Well I needed a DVD player so I bought a cheap Blu Ray player - a Samsung BD-P1500 (historically a Sony/Panasonic person). Anyway I bought James Bonds Quantum of Solace and popped it in the BD player tonight and it wouldn't get past the FBI warnings etc but was happy to play the trailers! Go figure I thought at the time.
Anyway a quick google and OMG I thought. I never thought a product that's been out for 2-3 yrs could still have so many incompatibility issues between different players and discs!
How the f&%$ is joe average supposed to go that just wants to buy a player and watch a movie?
I finally got the network cable to the box, network configured etc and then downloaded the firmware (I was too scared to watch a FTA channel as the unit stops playing discs when I change from it ) and it took 30 minutes. So over an hour later after I first stuck the disc in the player it was ready to play. But the one good thing was it's easy doing firmware upg's over the net.

Wait 'til you insert a Blu-ray that's Java based, the load times will p#ss you right off - take a look at one of my reviews for example...

Had a Sony and it crapped itself in just on the 12 month warranty period, had it fixed then sold it. Bought a Pioneer Blu-ray player and it beats Sony and Samsung hands down. It's multi region so I can play all my region 1 movies which I couldn't do on Sony, it plays DIVX and loads up fast unlike Sony.
