well that's a good question it looks like a OEM unit, it's a DVD, radio, TV and a GPS all in one unit. The GPS runs of a SD card with a Route66 map and what looks like a route 66 Navigate 7 exe. file. and my mate was told that it comes with route66 and it can also run Tomtom too. sorry that I can tell you. Thanks

Hard to tell on that description......all you can do is try running Tomtom from an SD card on it. There are plenty of places about where you could get a copy so it isnt going to cost him anything to try.

Tomtom craps on Route66 , I dont blame him.

I have a tomtom gps & have tried that, looks like the navigation OS software is reloaded onto the tomtom device and the SD is for maps voices POI, etc. the next best thing that he can do is to buy an updated map or find a way how to install an tomtom OS with the exe. onto the SD card, that should work

as its running Windows CE 5.0 Net you could get a spare sd card and try the hack in the lost gps thread as the program and all files for tomtom are loaded onto the sd card and its the shell ini file that makes the unit look for the program

You could run Mio or IGO on that. In my opinion MIO is just as good as TomTom, and the interface is better.

Howdi all, new poster here, I'm in the same situation as this guy, have just purchased a similar non branded gps unit that is running route 66 and I'm keen to try out tomtom - the route 66 hasn't let me down, just keen to try some alternatives!

Any recommendations or rough directions on where to look to find a copy that i can test with?

I am more than happy to jump on the tomtom website and buy the software/maps (assuming that's where you buy it from) but would prefer to know if it's going to work first!

All the info you want is pointed to in this thread. You will have to patch the device id issue. There is an option in those gps/dvd/head unit of where to look for the gps .exe file.

I've found the option, next challenge is to get a copy of TomTom installed on an SD card.
