    Default Open MG Secure Module?

Hi, I need some help. For some reason something happened to my PC overnight, when I re-started it this afternoon a windows installer window pops up wanting to install 'Open MG Secure Module', whatever files are needed can't be found and the PC just locks up and I can't do much with it.
Luckily, I have a wireless network so I'm able to use my laptop.
Can anyone shed any light on what this program is? I looked and couldn't find anything resembling that name. I just want to get rid of it but don't know where it belongs. As a last resort I will re-format and start again, but would prefer not to because there's a lot of stuff I don't want to lose.
Hopefully someone knows what it is and can let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

"I have a problem that just started two days ago -- never had it before. When
I try to import files into collections, Windows can't configure OpenMG Secure
Module. It says: "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other
removable disk that is not available. Insert the OpenMG Secure Module disk
and click ok." I don't have this disk and never have, since MovieMaker came
with Windows. How do I get a disk or is it available as a download?"

Damn! I thought it was the MiniDisc program, but I tried to remove it and the system wouldn't let me. But if that's the culprit,I wonder why it played up all of a sudden?
Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I will re-install and see if that fixes it.
    Cheers.

What a pain! Couldn't install or uninstall and the PC was running so slow and freezing all the time, tried all the tricks I learnt at TAFE and in the end just deleted the whole Sony folder. PC still runs slow so I am about to do a full virus scan. Reckon something must have been downloaded to it overnight and that caused the problem, but I also need to disable the MS updates, its not the first time they have caused grief.

from the little reading I did, seems you can uninstall the app?
either via add/remove or through the registry...

maybe give that a go. I'll try and help you (searching google for a solution) I am sure other have had this...

nb: one recommendation was to do a restore to a previous point... (thats sh1t) lets try and get it going without that...

    cheers

Thanks, the first thing I tried was a couple of restore points but those all failed. I tried add/remove programs but that didn't work either, and in the end I just deleted the whole Sony folder, wasn't game to mess around with the registry at this stage. PC at least runs now, albeit slow, but I'm doing a full scan because I think there must be some trojan or virus which started all this, I should really bite the bullet and do a fresh install but am a little reluctant because I've got too much stuff to copy/save.
    Cheers.
