No matter where you buy it and what you buy ,make sure it has 64mb RAM and a SD card slot - all the rest can be changed by software
I can't think of any problems I might find if I am to purchase a TomTom Go 720 or lower model from O/S, lets say from USA? The thing is I will need the GPS to drive around in US and then would like to use it back in Australia.
Thanks for your suggestions and opinions.

Thanks, mate.
Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything there.
The 64mb will allow you to use all "nice features" like computer voices and speech recognition without problems as well as watching videos.
And the card slot makes sure your internal memory stays original in case you need to send it back for repairs
