have you tried just highlighting the cells you want to merge then right click and chose merge cells?
Hi all
I have a table in Word 2007 SP1.
I want to merge two cells in a column.
I highlight the cells and go to the Table menu but the Merge Cells option is greyed out.
It works in Word 2000 so any ideas what may be the problem?
Thanks

Just had a quick play.
If I select the two cells I want to merge, then both right click and the Layout Merge Cells options work.
If I only select 1 Cell, then of course the option is disabled.
I then selected several cells, one of them was a merged cells from before, the rest where single cells. The option greyed out.
So word needs an valid "pair" to merge.

Thanks crypto7.
I had forgotten they were both previously merged cells.
Mystery solved.
