I had a pedestal fan fail the other week and was about to throw the whole thing out then I thought....that stand could be used as a mount for a dish! 3 pegs and you're away. Oh and it's cheap as well.

Been there, done that. Works very well indeed.

I cut mine down to about 600mm high. Less prone to fall over that way.

    Wink Dont need tripod

    Hi Chaps
I dont use a tripod for the dish I take portable when caravaning. I sit my dish on the ground.
Using a standard offset 65cm KU dish I removed the back half of the pole mount leaving only the front half still bolted to the dish. Then I bent up two short front legs out of 19mm by 3mm alum continous strip and drill and bolt it to the flange at bottom of dish for the front legs.
Then I got two short lengths of 25mm ect alum tube ( about 200mm long) that slide into each other and with a suitable plastic thum screw clamp all available from local caravan annex maker factory. This will be the rear leg like a kangaroo tail. Get solid 25mm bar welded to one short pipe to make a tee section at top and drill a screw hole each end of it to attach to the rear dish mount so that it can swing out.
To align, sit it on the ground and pull out rear leg, using Sat meter turn and adjust for best sat signal.
Used mine for years in every enviroment in OZ. Sat dish is low to ground so wont blow over easially. Stripped down dish means less weight and less fuel when travelling.

I saw a stand at a local DISH shop recently displaying a 85cm dish and I thought I could use one of those rather than belting a 32mm pipe in the ground when ever I want to mess with a dish. I was surprised how easy it came together. it's 1"1/4 then 3x 1"angle iron to spread out the legs then the legs at 1" pipe with a telescopic 3/4" pipe inside to get the pole square. Now I'm set for caravaning or just an afternoon in the sun.
It's hard to make a come back when I havn't been anywhere
I finally got my head together, now my bodies falling apart.

I didn't know these thing existed. LOL

For those caravaning you could just get an old car axle and bolt it with some old wheel nuts to the car or caravan spare tire and place it on the ground.

That's a good idea as well. Never thought of that!

godzilla, that sounds like an old mobile Search light mount or a 6 inch Howitzer.
Do the 1.664 Imperial or 1.9 US ton concrete blocks come with it or are they an Optional Extra?
I am sure the Barina could tow the mount for the odd weekend camp outs but you'd have to get the missus to drive the 3 tonner fitted with a Hi-AB for the concrete blocks tho.

Im thinking that using it as a roof mount may be a little dangerous for anyone standing under it. LOL

Tripods are a good way of putting a small 65cm dish up when you are camping. I myself I’m a bit greedy and want all I can get so I want my H-H mount as well so here is what I have done.

I got a large plastic flower pot and a 1 metre poll put the pole in the centre of the pot compact it with sand to about 150mm from top then pour plaster on top smooth it out and place a small fridge bubble for checking level and right behind the poll a compass with the north mark pointing at poll.

Then once you have set it up when you pull it out at a camp site you just make sure it sits level on ground by the bubble then rotate the pot so compass points north then you should only need to change elevation only.

make sure you anchor it properly if you're going to leave it there for a while.

my 90cm was free standing on some railway sleepers, but it fell over a few times. I then went down to Bunnings and got some eye hooks and tent pegs to ground it properly. Hasn't fallen over since.
