Default Need advice on setting up server?

    Hi all

I am going to start playing around with my orange card and going to set up a server.
can some one give me advice on should i setup a Linux computer? if so what distro and what server software do u recommend? I have minimal Linux knowledge.
Or should i use a dreambox as a server?

    thanks in advance.

simplest method is just to use the dreambox, if your serving to only a few boxes

Start with CCcam as the server, add F: line for each clinet, C: line on client box points to server ip address.

add your box key, should work straight away!

    Good luck

yeah I agree with porkop - use a dreambox ( it is after all a linux computer)
no sense in having a pc that you use for nothing else but card serving

The type of channel doesn't really matter (SD TV, HD TV, Radio, etc) as long as the card has the right entitlements (you pay for HD channels) and you use the right equipment (actual Dreambox HD models) to view them.

Untick the DHCP option in the DM server network settings if you are just using LAN clients.

For WAN clients a static router IP is desirable and you must port forward the port number of the DM server on the router.
